NFT: Travel Advise Needed - Las Vegas to National Parks

rasbutant : 6/8/2023 9:34 am
I'm heading to Las Vegas next week for work, two week trip. I just found out that the client has Monday June 19th off, so now I have a 3 day weekend in Las Vegas. I'd rather go explore some National Parks. I've been to Zion and Grand Canyon before but could revisit.

Any recommended travel route for 3 days, what is realistic to see. Hotel prices in Zion and Arches are out of budget, but Page AZ and St. George are good.

If I stayed in Page I could do day trips up to Bryce, Canyonlands maybe? might be too far, north rim of Grand Canyon (get a different view than last time? Is it worth it??)

Lake Havasu was another thought, with Kayak to Emerald Cave worked into the schedule.

What do you think travel experts!
You should be able to get any travel

times, routes and distance online. Just google "distance from X to Y"
Just did that trip

A couple of weeks ago. Did 5 parks in 7 days. I highly recommend a jeep tour through Canyonlands. We went early am. Around 6 and where the only ones in the park. It was amazing.
You could try The Wave

Need permits though which is based on lottery. Check if it's available at that time.
The drive from Vegas to the North Rim is spectacular.

When I was younger, I did the round trip in one day, but its better if you take your time. You should be able to find reasonable accomodations in St George or slightly out of the way Cedar City.
Not sure if Torrey, UT has availability . . .

It is the closest town to Capitol Reef NP - I was initially a little skeptical of this park, but it was a pleasant surprise, dramatic views and a couple of great hikes. The drive to Torrey on Route 12 is a very well known scenic roadway. I live in SoCal (OC), but my kid went to Univ. of Utah (graduated in 2020 and still lives and works in SLC), so I have been to the state many times. If you could work this in - do not think you would be disappointed.

This looks like a great option. Thanks
I will be by myself, so scenic stops and drives are great and hikes where lots of people will be and nothing too serious.
Red Rocks is about 30 minutes from Vegas

This is a good one. State park but lots of hiking trails and you can camp there.

I forgot about Death Valley. That's about 2 hours from Vegas. If you haven't been there then don't let the name fool you. One of the most beautiful and quietest places in the country.

I had to look this up - Cassidy Arch hike, that was my favorite one we did. Can be done in a few hours - round trip.
