Megill and Senga need to give really good starts and length (ie, six plus or seven in both). This bullpen won't hold if it has to cover more than 3 innings over extended series the way it is now.

How are the ticket prices? Decent I'd imagine, right?
Lucchesi. lol.
man, when you have a $345M payroll and you're begging the Mets to re-call a pitcher with a 5+ FIP to replace the pitchers currently in the rotation.
Is this rock bottom?
One of my biggest fears is because the Mets still can see a path to contention that Eppler, in fear for his job, trades prospects for "help" and pours gas on this fire and does more longer term damage.

Please no!
It's why he should let go now before the deadline
Buck has his team playing inspired baseball! And if the reason we are keeping these ineffective vets (and playing them so much) is because they are great in the clubhouse - then they are doing a really shitty job.
If anyone is sitting here expecting a Braves or Philly-like run like last season…lol, have fun with that dream. Not even remotely the same teams or FO.
Kick the tires?
So what? We’re the Mets supposed to keep him over Narvaez? Or Alvarez? Or DH him?

Brawlin in the Stands - ( New Window )
Yes, that math says there is time, but most teams who reach almost half way and are a number of games back, do not make the play-offs...that is the rule.
There are a number of places and players to blame here, to me the biggest disappointment has been JVL, with Max a close second.
The Mets had a huge game (if there is such a thing in June) game three against Atlanta, they had their "ace" on the mound, scored 10 runs....and lost. And, the night before had their other "ace" on the mound, had a three run lead, lost, and taxed the bullpen.
So, their top two pitchers (getting paid north on 90 million this season), pitched a total of 8 1/3 innings, and gave up 10 runs. And taxed the bullpen
The bull pen is a disaster too, but you can make changes there; you can't fire JVL/Meager Max.
Why is Tommy Hunter still a Met? Is there no one better than him in the minors?
Why does Vogelbach get any AB's and why is he still on the team? He's a DH only who is hitting for no power, can't play the field and clogs the bases up when he walks, which is his specialty.
Time to replace Megill with somebody...Luccesi threw 7 shut out innings, pitched OK his other starts...why not pitch him instead of Mcgill?
Play the kids every day, do not trade any of them at the deadline and try to trade Meager Max (who spit the bit in his two biggest games as a Met last year-game 159 against Atlanta, game 1 play-offs against SD).
When the crowds at CitiField thin and no one is buying $16 burgers, or paying $40 to park, Uncle Steve will really be upset. Yes, there is a chance things will change, but empty seats, more than anything, get the owner's attention.
Firing Eppler does nothing in terms of player performance and its hard to believe Uncle Stevie will fire Buck, but something has to give, especially if the team is embarrassed by the Yankees next week.
Last night is the first time in years I didn't watch any of the game, or check the score in the middle of the night. Game 3 against Atlanta was way too painful for this long suffering Met fan.
Rant over....

What a mess.
Luccesi is a much better option. He’s not great, but he’s crafty, and he battles. Quintana can’t get back soon enough.
