He's also got to know somebody or some people. Commercial Real Estate especially is highly network-oriented. My father was in commercial real estate for 40 years or so and he was only successful because his name was well-known and had an incredible referral pipeline. Once he got his last job for a developer, he barely had to make a phone call.

He taught his future boss' son how to pitch
