Time to bring up Mauricio and see if you can get some prospects for Cahna, Esco, Vogelback, Marte, and Narvaez.
We need to be sellers in a big way.
they just don't have the starting pitching consistency to go on a long run, so if they lose this series and wind up 8+ games back in the WC you can probably put a nail in the coffin on this shit filled season that began in a shitty way with Diaz and has been mostly shitty ever since.
Right now, there are just three teams with a worse record than the Mets in the NL (Cards, Nats, and Rockies)

Facts man. This might not go down well with everyone, but I'm all for firing Buck at the All-Star Break if this continues. Get Beltran here. What the heck at this point.

Wow, that's crazy for a team with WS aspirations coming into the season.
But, the Mets have won 20 of their last 53 games.
And, JVL in particular, looks like he doesn't really give a shit.
After Bregman (I think it was Bregman, I mean who's really watching anymore) hit one to the warning track last night, he and JVL exchanged a nice little laugh, you know, between friends.
Hey Justin, you've won two of nine starts this year and you're getting paid 40 million dollars....at least pretend to care.
And he's signed through next year?
Time to pull the plug on Buck, unless the brass figures the season's over and they don't want to pay two managers this season.
We are stuck with them.
Keep the core McNeil, Alsonso, Nimmo,Lindor, and the 4 kids and put everyone else on the block(including every pitcher) for whatever prospects you can get.
We have the money to retool next year and hopefully the new GM can pick better FA.
Also if we are we are at the deadline fire Buck and let Baltran have the second half to see what he can do. I think all the heat is off and we will be off everyone's radar.
With a combined 21 starts under their belt, it wouldn't have been unreasonable to expect something like 13 or 14 wins from them.
I know it's not the only issue, but it is a big one.
they have had consistent issues playing good baseball, so at this point i think we need to conclude they are just a bad team.
bad defense, non-timely hitting, non-timely pitching from the BP, bad starting rotation. it is a true team-wide aura of crap.
with almost the same roster they are the antithesis of what they were last year - hardworking, good fundamentals, grinding, etc.
how something like that happens so abruptly im not sure but my theory is that starting last september this team's confidence and belief in buck was first shaken then shattered by atlanta/san diego, and since then he's done nothing different and only given everyone more reasons to not believe in him as he's trotted out underperformers without consequence all year no matter how many mistakes they made.
things can flip quickly but the saying 'nothing changes if nothing changes' is apt. buck has tried to ride out crappy baseball saying things will turnaround since September. a dream without a plan is a wish.
Alex Ramirez 3-4, Kevin Parada 2-3, 3B, BB, Robert Colina 7 k’s over 3.1 innings, Jace Beck 2 perfect, and for the not so great… Omar De Los Santos now has 10 errors in the OF in only 54 games.. yeesh

Truly not the only issue, but Max is 6-2, albeit with two huge losses in games against the Yankees and Braves where he had a 4 run lead.
At least Max appears to care.
JVL on the other hand, I think is the biggest disappointment this season. Nine starts, only two wins. Plus, as I've vented before, he looks like he doesn't really give a shit.
I mean, I get it, he's getting 46 million a year, he's won the Cy Young, WS, etc, plus he's, you know, married to a SI swim suit model.
Looks like he's just going through the motions, staying professional, but I bet he's the first out of the locker room every night.
Not a big JVL fan, as you can see, plus he's under contract next year.

we are back to the days of the minors being more exciting than the bigs.
vientos 2/4 with a 2b, mauricio 0-5 but 3 batted balls over 107mph including a 113mph. peterson a decent enough start he should probably take megill's spot soon and push him into the BP.
that $10m and what they paid quintana = bassitt and they could have brought back a very solid, reliable, 3rd starter in addition to adding Senga/JV.
even more mind-boggling is that carrasco supposedly had trade value and they didnt pull the trigger.
and obviously the bullpen has been a shambles other than raley/robertson. otto has regressed, which was always possible since he's 37. and they overestimated their ability to find diamonds in the rough.
and the entire pitching staff has been hurt by bad defense.
just a bad team playing bad.
same. I understand why they gave megill another shot starting but its time to just fully put him in the BP.
this isn't a shot a hefner (who i have also never bought as any kind of guru) but the entire organization's evaluation of pitching is pretty awful in the last year. giving up holderman while misjudging RP market, letting the wrong guys walk, overvaluing cookie, peterson regressing to unplayability, and the coup de grace implosion of all the RP arms they thought they had found under the radar.

ERA for the 7 Mets with at least 5 starts this year:
3.53 Kodai Senga
4.04 Max Scherzer
4.43 Joey Lucchesi
4.50 Justin Verlander
5.17 Tylor Megill
6.34 Carlos Carrasco
8.08 David Peterson
yes JV, Max, and obviously Diaz injury were setbacks, but to be under .500 the problems had to go way beyond them and they have.
As for the team, are we really rooting for wins at this point? Part of me just wants them to be big sellers at the trade deadline.
Marte, Vogey, Robertson, and Pham at minimum. Re-load, get Shohei in the offseason.
If they go on a run and in the WC race, does anyone think this pitching will hold up in the postseason? Even with a triumphant return of Diaz?
I can't see it.
But even if they sell, wasn't there a team in recent history that sold assets at the deadline and still made the postseason?

Sell and play the kids. Prepare for next season
Spoke to a scout about Stuart. Said he has big league stuff but the numbers are a bit deceiving. FB is closer to average than above, slider is his out pitch. Puts his upside as a potential #4 (which would be a great outcome for a guy who was an older RP pick). 50/50 if he remains a SP. Scout prefers Christian Scott. Doesn't peg any of the Mets current SP prospects as more than 4's.
That's almost as bad as having two Wilmers with one named Wilmer Reyes.

They do. Vincent Perozo a catcher, and Jose Peroza a 3b, they also have the OTHER Jose Peroza (ex-big leaguer)in Syracuse... and 2 P named Luis Rodriguez

Steve Cohen on playing in London:
"Interest in baseball is growing all over the world and to bring the Mets ‘never-say-die’ attitude to sports fans in London is a tremendous honor."
