That's a (relatively weak) safeguard against reselling. I wouldn't worry about that part. And the Ballpark app has become standard, I wouldn't worry about that, either.

The rest of your post is a little difficult to understand. Who told you to buy a gift card and for what purpose? Did you buy the tickets directly through Ticketmaster? If so, the tickets will also be visible in your TM account (the barcode will also be withheld there until 24-48 hours before the game). But if you purchased through a third party channel, like Costco, those tickets are processed via Fevo, using Account Manager, and will only be visible in the Ballpark app.

I bought them thru TM, no 3rd party

at Fenway Tuesday night, you need the barcode.

I can't say for sure. I had the ticket transferred to my account by a friend who bought it. I got it the morning of the game and the barcode was populated.

you just hold the phone near the reader and it can detect it without a barcode.

looked like this on Tuesday (in fact this is my actual ticket). Everyone who walked in to the ballpark had to scan their QR code.

Agreed - I suspect your tix are legit if you purchased through TM, but WHERE did you find the phone number you called - maybe it wasn't actually TM.

Yeah, you should check the number you called. Did you get it from google - it is unfortunately not uncommon that scammers have hacked google searches to show false numbers. You should use a company's website to find a correct number. Being told you need to buy a gift card sounds completely fraudulent.

Anyway, my experience is similar to others' that it's not uncommon for ticket barcodes to show up very close to the day of the game.

As noted above, I don’t believe TM shows barcodes any longer, and most sellers don’t display the barcode until 24 hours before entry. I went to see the National last week (AXS, not TM), and I didn’t get the barcode until day of.

Is your TM ticket a resale? I thought all MLB tickets were through the Ballpark app. I have tickets for a Mets game on Sat, and my barcode isn’t visible yet.

past few years, and the barcode doesn't show up until 24 hours before the game.
