Guard Mark Glowinski

Q. What areas in particular did you pinpoint and say, 'this part wasn't great'? Why do you think the pass protection was a struggle?

A: Just making sure that I was good with my technique inside out. I'll work.

Q. Where do you view the progression of the line at this point?

A: I'd say we're just trying to get better every day. Work on fundamentals and technique and moving forward. Putting the past behind us and just thinking about what we need to do for this upcoming week.

Q. You obviously hold yourself to a high standard. How disappointing was that performance for you personally?

A: It was very disappointing. All I can do is move on from that and be better.

Q. What was the focus in practice today?

A: Overall, for the whole group was making sure that our fundamentals and technique and starting with the basics were dialed in, so we can just go out there and execute our job and not focus on those things. More importantly, our steps, footwork, hand placement and stuff like that.

Q. At practice today were there any switches in the line?

A: We always work on rotations and making sure that everybody's getting an opportunity out there.

Q. Why do you think it's so hard in this league for teams to develop an offensive line and have continuity and maintain it year over year?

A: You have to always go through bringing in new guys, then you also have guys that are gone from year to year. Every once in a while, you have the ability to have a group of guys together for a long time and then other years it's a mixed group and you have to make sure you get everybody on the same page. That's why you try to keep your communication, and all the things that pertain to us communicating, try to keep it as small as possible so that if any new guy comes in it's easy to transition to have new guys come in.

Q. How much better do you think it is to have the opportunity to bring the same group back? Is that a significant advantage?

A: Sometimes. Then other times it's good to have competition to keep the competition level up and push guys to be better. You always want to make sure that there's some kind of degree of competition within the room. Even if it's in the weight room or things that we do off the field making sure that we're the best that we can be and push one another and have great competition.

Q. There's a chance that (tackle) Andrew (Thomas) doesn't play Sunday. What gives you the confidence that even if Andrew's not out there that you guys can do a lot better than you did in Week 1 as an o-line?

A: I don't know what he is for the physical aspect – if he's playing or not or anything like that so I can't draw any conclusion on that. I think that we did a great job of keeping a great rotation in the offseason and during camp for when the opportunity comes for somebody else that they can go out there and just play and have fun and do their assignment. It's early in the week so I can't make any conclusions or anything like that.

Q. Do you feel like you got enough work with the starters in the preseason to feel comfortable with (tackle) Evan (Neal) and (center) John Michael (Schmitz Jr.)?

A: I think regardless, even if I weren't, even if it were to be having mental reps or watching film – just going about it. I'm not going to say yes or no to it. You always want to have more reps. I think you also have to be ready, if it's even a walkthrough making sure they make the most of those reps. Even the ones that you're not in, putting yourself in the position when you're watching the film to be in those spots as well just making sure you're in the right position to succeed.

Q. What stands out about the Cardinals being able to get six sacks the other day?

A: I think they played with a heightened sense of urgency, great effort. It seems like they want to get to the ball as fast as they can, so creating as many opportunities as they can to put themselves in that spot.

Q. For you guys is that a nice challenge to bounce back? To get back there and show that what you guys are building in camp is what you are rather than what you showed against the Cowboys?

A: Yeah, I'm saying you go with the mentality that it's 1-0, it's the next week, whatever you did – even if it was we had a great play or a bad play we're always moving on. Making sure that we're keeping a clean slate and making sure we're executing our assignments. Next game is another opportunity to show the things that we did in camp. All we can do is compete and kick (butt) so that's what we're trying to do.
