The D has played like three good series so far. Otherwise, they’ve been absolutely terrible and that’s pretty much everyone. So, now that they showed a bit of competence let’s see if they can get everyone on the same page.
He is not going to be able to make up for his draft pick being so high
On the defense who has been just as invisible. But there’s only threads about the second year player. Pash rush works as a unit, and right now no part of the pass rush is doing their job.
...were the main culprits. Thibodeaux stood out because he vacated the edge with an upfield rush, but that appeared to be by design.
Dobbs ran through a gap vacated by Nunez-Roches, who got washed down to his left. Okereke took himself out of the play by stepping up to engage Conner, who was helping on Davidson and wasn't going anywhere. Davidson appeared to be the least culpable of the three middle defenders. He just kept bull-rushing as Dobbs ran past him. A more experienced DT might have disengaged sooner, but I think he did his job - plus, he kept Conner out of the pattern, AND may have been held as Dobbs went by him.
In theory, improved DL depth should mean the Giants can afford to have backups in the game for important plays. After watching Nunez-Roches on that TD, I'm not so sure.
Obviously, the whole defense was putrid most of the game. Thibodeaux was a small part of the picture.
Five consecutive scoring drives by the Arizona Cardinals is not just on one player. The coaches need to do better too.
I won't pretend to know what was wrong with the defensive game plan. The results on Arizona's first six possessions largely speak for themselves. Were Dobbs and Conner simply making plays that Martindale's staff assumed they couldn't? Did the staff expect the whole game to be like the big miss to Ertz? Did they underrate Dobbs's mobility or the Arizona line's ability to block on the edge and pick up extra rushers?
I watched KT on obvious passing downs and he gets blocked easily by tight ends and running backs. I also wondered during the game if Williams was playing. He was totally invisible.

Agree on both. But no one is talking about Williams.
Williams looks finished. I know we will read some review where it seems he is doing more behind the scenes than we know. Same old story every year. But you simply cannot have someone like him with a 32-million-dollar cap hit on this team. And between him and Dex (who earns it), along with 2 FAs and a 1st and second-round pick, there are a lot of resources tied up in a line that is absolutely getting mauled in the run game and has no sacks.
Williams was one of DGs worst moves. He had no leverage and DG handed him a pile of it. He is invisible. The entire line has to step up or Wink has to manufacture some pressure somehow.
What about #73...

Very true. It would have been points on their first 6 drives except for the missed FG.
Just like Hostetler was? :) LOL...DJ would be legit though.

Not excusing the players, obviously.
