Undeniable, it was six quarters of really bad football.

Maybe it’s pure coincidence, but I can remember when starters played about 6 quarters of the preseason games. 1 in the first, 2 in the 2nd and about 3 spread over the remaining 2 games. I believe players need to play real games to be mentally and physically ready to go. It’s more telling with the expanded rosters all the way through meaning less reps in the already abbreviated practices. Maybe some teams have figured this out but I think Dabs and staff already have 1 big work item for next years off season. Now with that behind us, let’s get ready for week 2.
It looks that way.

The intensity level was the easiest thing to notice. Guys looked like they were in walk thru mode.

Daboll definitely needs to re-examine his camp approach.
I deny it

I think it was 6 quarters of very good football. I enjoy losing 57-0. I also like punching myself in the nuts repeatedly.

Of course you do. It's a prerequisite for being a Giants fan.
The defense is really bad

I get we made two nice stops, but this Cardinals team gashed us for almost three quarters
I don't agree it all.

Starting young now amount ofcontact in practice and outside of games is minimal.
One of the reason this team is so healthy coming out of camp is the lack of contact drills and pre-season.
You can put the 6 quarters on the coaching staff. Game plan offensively was poor for both games and until they made changes and opened it up in the 2nd half.
They opened the season coaching scared.
I think you're

being kind calling it really bad lol.

Great adjustments by the coaching staff and the players rallied with Jones leading the way.

Agree about the lack of playing time/contact in preseason. I wonder how much different it was to last preseason.
I agree completely

When you're playing on the field with 10 other people, you need to trust that everyone knows their assignments and that everyone can handle them physically. That trust gets built with experience over time: Drills and scrimmages in camp are all well and good, but you need some in-game time together to start to gel.

I think the '6 quarters' barometer is a good one for preseason, but of course it is not set in stone. It sure as hell beats the 'one series and out' approach we took this summer.

Oh, and yes, we entered the season as healthy as we've been in a long time. Fat lotta good it did us last week.
I agree

This team was not prepared and it showed. I'd rather have a few dings on players and have a chance at winnig the first game rather than healthy and look like a national embarrassment while losing.
