What's up with our run defense

with Dex, Leo, Robinson, Nacho, Okereke, Simmons this looked like it was going to be a strength. Is it the edges that are failing us? KT isn't known for run defense, I don't know what Ojulari is at this point. Boogie and Ward were both on the field a lot yesterday and yet Connor behind a very average o-line was still piling up yards.

Corners were mostly doing man press as far as I could see. Banks hardly got tested and Hawkins I don't think had a single target I can remember. So what gives?

have not stepped up. Teams are also still testing our edges on runs and having success. The rookie CBs may not be supporting enough as well but tough to see on tv.

What is KT known for because not seeing much of anything? Daboll may have to call him out again in front of the team.

Was really bad as Arizona kept getting tons of yards running left.

Notwithstanding the hype, Wink's defense was not very good last year and has been bad this season. Despite the second half yesterday, this defense does not seem capable of stopping the run or the pass against quality teams. Maybe it's just getting new players adjusted, the age on Williams and the two rookie corners.

thing is all of these guys had a great camp... and before you say it was just against our shitty OL, they abused a very good Detroit Lions OL for two days as well.

But we saw signs of life in the second half. I think it mostly comes down to not playing with each other all preseason. We have 2 new tackles as depth. We have one coming back from injury and a rookie.

Ward was playing run DE a bit and didn’t look great—I do wonder if he is having a drop off.

I think they will start to sync and then our new middle linebacker will do a lot more cleanup work.

Is that the guys we brought in to shore up our crap run D: Robinson, Nacho, & Boogie, are just getting acclimated and integrated.

Also, the 6 putrid quarters created a self-reinforcing spiral. Playing from behind constantly makes it really hard to do anything, especially 2+ scores down. You're on eggshells in that situation gameplan wise.

so hoping that is a big part of it. It is something they emphasized in camp and if you want to start getting more hits and sacks on the QB they need to get it together fast.

It almost reminds me of Carson Wentz’s “MVP” caliber season before he got hurt where his numbers on third down were so drastically different. Fluke’s happen and that is what I am worried about with us

were set in the 2nd half. As bad as Kayvon has been i noticed that in the 2nd.

Not aggressive enough and also there have been times where they have no chance at stopping the play due to how they line up.

It's early, many players are new or still young bucks

There's also a chance some new parts won't work out, and you're seeing early returns. TBD. Wink is definitely calling conservative too, probably to protect the young secondary.

You can't stop the run with 2 DL. I don't count Jihad Ward as DL no matter what he's listed as. Go watch every big run and you will see the same thing. 2DL and 9 LB/DBs. Size matters that's the only fix. It's 100% on Wink.
