Wasn't the Cardinal sorta hemmed in on the side-line and sorta angling out when Daniel Jones dove at him?
Which is not to take anything away from our QB. Clearly the effort was there to get in on the play and maybe it was only due to Daniel Jones' effort that the guy was corralled by the sideline.

Honestly, the national media will never appreciate Jones. They look at a nerdish kid from Duke and are uncapable of seeing past that and recognizing his toughness and other qualities. The real football people di see it, but overall it will never be part of the narrative.

Nope. Some of them made their mind up that Jones was a terrible pick, and the Giants should have taken Haskins. Some foolish talking heads even claimed the Giants organization was racist for selecting Jones over Haskins.
Lots of moments in a game like that HAVE to happen if you are coming back from a 20 point deficit. The Cardinals late hit penalty which was iffy. The Jones to Barkley TD. The block in the back which was also a bit iffy.
Campbell might have been able to push him out of bounds because Jones made him alter his route. But it would have been another 10 yards closer to the end zone.
The other thing I noticed was it looks like the defender actually gets Barkley's facemask after the ball deflects off him.

But I'm not sure about that?
If DJ doesn't get there, the defender scores.
+1.
Yes the sideline was there but he took a good angle and made the effort to stop the play. We’ve seen other QBs just try to be obstacles until help arrives.

Yup! It may not have been a great play by a defensive back but was a pretty good play by a QB.

Sorry Eric. I stepped on your reply. I need to preview my stuff.
The impressive thing to me is that the DB is running down the sidelines, Jones is with him - and then he gives a juke hesitation like he might cut and Jones stops right with him. So, Jones doesn't bite - and the guy is run out of bounds. Not many QBs make that play - it's pure athleticism along with the effort.

The media seems to do this all the time. They prejudge a player by where they are drafted and where they thought they should have been drafted. OR in Eli's case, all the draft drama prior. Once that is established, it becomes very hard to win them over unless you become an All pro.
I was just watching a few sports shows and they were downplaying the commanders because of Howell at QB. Now, I don't know what Howell will do in the future, but they seem to be basing that more on his draft status then what he's done on the field.
the one against Dallas I agree. The one yesterday went right through his hands, he didn't get "popped".
I didn't like most of Barkleys game yesterday. He did make a few really good plays, but I think most on here over value him at this point. In addition, players like Engram would be torched big time here for similar gaffes.

Exactly
Unless you are yelling and pumping your fist all the time- no one is going to talk you up (unless you have undeniable and consistent success)
It was so annoying hearing Schlereth talking up that undrafted and rusher on the Cardinals. He look, it’s a white guy with long hair, making a play and being very emotional, gotta love that guy.!
With most QBs in the NFL that's 6. DJ is tough and

That was also one more tackle than KT5 had in the game.

The guy almost never makes 'a business decision' out there.

watch again man, defender is right on top of him when he makes the catch. also the defender was coming in with his helmet...I'd be a little distracted too.

roll blue is right, that ball went through his hands before anything else. Yes, Dallas game he got popped(not an excuse - hold the ball.)
