Fantasy Football - 18 September

RC in MD : 9/18/2023 11:48 am
It appears that I'll be starting 0-2 this season after my opponent put up the second most points in the league having D.Swift and TJ.Hockenson as well as J.Herbert.

My team did score points, but mostly on my bench as Z.Moss, D.London, and S.Moore all outscored their respective counterparts (Jav.Williams, AJ.Dillon, B.Aiyuk, and R.Doubs) on the starting line up. At least I know that my players can score points; it's just matter of roster management.

On a positive note, D.Jones is showing his potential as my SuperFlex/QB2 by being the high scorer for the week while I wait for J.Fields to take that next step as an elite fantasy football QB.

How are you guys doing heading into tonight's double header?

And anyone do Guillotine Fantasy Football? We're starting in Week 4 with eight teams (managers from my current league) with a draft this Sunday (the best part of fantasy football).
jones and jefferson led me to a win but pretty bummed i missed on puka
Eric on Li : 9/18/2023 11:58 am : link
and kyren williams. id almost added kyren before week 1 but got guys higher in my queue ahead of him (doh). i came in 2nd in the bidding for both of them with faab.

i did get tutu cheap and i think he will remain a playable flex but kyren looks like he's going to be among the best receiving rbs and puka looks like this year's sensation regardless of what happens when kupp comes back.

rams look way better than expected and likely to be a shootout environment all year as long as they protect stafford. when kupp comes back it may be hard to sustain 3 wrs but i think their top 2 will be startable all year whoever they are.
Got my *** handed to me
DCGMan : 9/18/2023 11:59 am : link
Expected. Austin Ekeler hurt, and I left Geno on the bench after a poor week 1. Ridley stunk as Kirk produced for the Jags.

Some good news. James Cook looks like a solid RB2. Addison and G Wilson converted on big plays. Waller leading us in targets was good to see.

1-1 to start the year.

Thoughts on waiver wire pickups? The Rams RB is somehow still available in my league.

go big on kyren if it's ppr. he is going to have 50+ receptions this year easy. 1k total yards, 50 receptions, 10 tds = 200+ points, and those are all individual inputs that you could easily hit the over on.
I started Moss over Dotson in my 12 team
leatherneck570 : 9/18/2023 12:09 pm : link
And was rewarded. I’m projected to win 132-74.

My 10 team is a lot closer. I need 19 points from Chubb to win it after disappointing showings from the Giants D/ST, Fields, and Damien Pierce.
Won easily this week
UConn4523 : 9/18/2023 12:12 pm : link
to make up for getting screwed by Dallas D last week. The Barkley injury hurts but I have Kyren Williams whom I take is the starter now so that’s hopefully a wash.
Was just going to post a thread, beat me to it

How did we do yesterday and where are we going into MNF?

After a horrendous week 1 where I went 1-5 across my leagues, this week, I've already secured 4 wins, and probably will lose the other two.

In one of the leagues I'm behind, I am 64 points down, but I do have DeShaun Watson, Chris Olave, and Elijah Moore. That's the good news, the bad is my opponent still has Juwan Johnson. So, need a huge performance from my trio and a lot of Watson to Moore. Let's get 4 combined TDs and a big passing and rushing game from Watson and a couple of TDs going to Moore, and Olave to show out as well.

Seems pretty bleak, but it's possible.

The other league, my Champions League, I am facing 0-2, with Elijah Moore and Jamaal Williams to go, I'm 34.5 points down. My opponent has Cleveland's DEF. Seems like a bad scenario because I feel like Cleveland will give that Pittsburgh O problems tonight, but hoping for a surprise high scoring game.

Reflections from yesterday...

Bijan has been unleashed! I was lucky enough to get him in one league.

Still waiting on Jahmyr Gibbs to have his breakout and for them to utilize him more in Detroit.

Disappointing performances from Etienne, which surprised me. Everything about that Jacksonville/KC game surprised me. Was expecting a fantasy points bonanza, but no.

In one league, I have Lawrence and Justin Fields. I benched Fields in favor of T-Law this week with that KC matchup, and once again, I made the wrong decision. Thankfully, I'm still picking up the W in that league.

CMC proving why he was rightfully the #1 RB in fantasy in drafts.

Garrett Wilson...had that long TD on a slant where he looked like OBJ, but very concerned with Zach Wilson. Absent that play, it would've been a dud for Garrett. I really wish the Jets would make a move to acquire a more competent passer. Go get Jameis Winston at least! C'mon Jets! We can't deal with Zach Wilson all year.

I benched all my Jets for that Dallas matchup, though. And you should, too, absent a handful of players. Avoid players going against Dallas. Yep, benched Wilson, benched Cook, benched Breece Hall even, which turned out to be a wise decision (except for Wilson, who saved his fantasy day with that score).

I picked up Kyren Williams in as many leagues as I could, and really glad I did! Although I didn't have the stones to play him against the Niners, he once again had a big game with a healthy amount of utilization. Cam Akers is completely in McVay's doghouse, as they are seeking to trade him... was inactive yesterday. The Rams are apparently done with his shit! I have Williams in two money leagues, really happy about that. Williams had a 97% snap share for L.A.

I have zero shares of Raheem Mostert, unfortunately. Big game for him last night. 18 carries, 121 yards, and 2 scores, adding 1 catch for 6 yards, for a 25 point fantasy day! Huge. He is a guy I'd look to trade sooner rather than later. You may be able to get a really good receiver for Mostert right now for a desperate Ekeler or Saquon owner (assuming Saquon will miss week 2 on the short week).

I told you guys, don't play Josh Kelley vs the Titans. Went as I expected. That said, he's a guy I'd definitely play this week against the Minnesota Vikings. He's a matchup-based play for me, ideally a flex, with RB2 upside in those weeks, but really, he's not a terrific talent. So just proceed with caution.

Really slow week for TEs around the NFL. Kelce got me a TD, and I have Hockenson in one league, who was the #1 TE for the week. I really believe Hockenson will finish the #2 TE for the year behind Kelce. I would target him where possible.

I was wrong about Mike Evans...went into the season not loving that situation, and felt like Godwin was the better receiver to own based on Baker's game, but so far, he's been a stud. I still think he's a sell-high guy, I just don't have confidence in Baker sustaining big fantasy numbers for Evans all year. Sell high guy for me.

Hello Puka Nacua! I made FAAB offers for him that were unsuccessful, only got him in my non-money league. Sigh. If you were lucky enough to get him, oh man, you are set up really nicely.

I made a speculative add last week of Tank Dell in my Dynasty league. He's a guy to add this week if you can. He had an 82% route participation rate, and a 24% target share. 10 targets, 7 catches for 72 and score. That's much better utilization than I was expecting, and he finished as WR19!
Stroud had a big passing day...that is a situation that bears watching. If you have QB troubles, and you can't get Jordan Love, CJ Stroud is a guy I would add and hold now, before the rush on him begins, which will happen if he has another big game next week.

How did you guys do?
I need 15 from Freirumuth and Shaeed

To win. Had Jones and Jayden Reed on the bench.
I'm 2-0, but left a lot of points on the bench
JOrthman : 9/18/2023 12:29 pm : link
I had B. Robinson, N. Collins and T. Dell all on the bench and all scoring over 20. I also had three others over 10 sitting on the bench.

Shout out to Leatherneck with the advice on Moss.
I have to eat a little crow on Moss

I advised against him, he finished as RB9 (so far) this week.

More importantly, he was the only RB that got snaps in that Colts offense.

I'm still exercising caution, and would look to trade him. The pass game was miserable with Richardson, which will likely result in crowded boxes. He had a good game. But the other thing I'm concerned about is the amount of times AR will poach those goal line TDs, which he will do a-plenty this season.

I would sell high on him quickly. That's not an offense I really want any shares of outside of Anthony Richardson, who has a decent floor with his rushing production.

Richardson finished as QB22 so far this week, not great, but still about 18 FP, which I think is close to his weekly floor.

Week 1, the top 3 fantasy QBs were Tua, Mac Jones, and Kirk Cousins.

Week 2, the top 3 fantasy QBs were our own DJ, Kirk Cousins, and Russell Wilson!

Great to see Wilson have a good game. I think what we've learned is that if you waited on QB and bypassed all of the top guys in the draft, there are answers out there. The cream will eventually rise to the top, but there are guys I think should be solid options all year. I think that with the additions of Addison and Hockenson, plus the downgrade of the RB situation in Minnesota, Cousins has some additional upside from what he did last year, where he was QB6 on the season.

Yeah, I had high hopes for Moss, but not high enough to start him over the likes of Jav.Williams or AJ.Dillon (what a mistake that was). I am trying to sell him high to a RB needy team, but not really sure if one game will be enough or if he needs additional game(s). If he continues doing well, I may end up keeping him as a reserve back and trading away Williams or Dillon.

Yeah, Dillon was a massive disappointment for me. I would've thought that he would be a great play with Jones out against the Dirty Birds. Javante Williams I didn't expect as much because I just don't think he's the same player again yet from last year's injury. I wish the Broncos would've started him on IR, I'd feel much better about having him on my teams and playing him if he had 6 or 7 weeks of rest and continued re-hab.

In terms of Moss, it may be helpful to let people know that no other Colts RB got a single snap on offense for Indianapolis yesterday. Moss is the bell cow at least until and if Taylor comes back (which I don't expect until week 8 if at all).
Is Jayden Reed

on the week and be 1-1 in both leagues on the season.

This week Ekeler, Metcalf, and Amari Cooper killed me, lol. It's hard to get basically 0 from 3 of your top 4 round picks and win.

my other league I will win more because my opponent is shitty.

I wouldn't go that far. He had 8 targets on the plus side, but I think it's likely to be an outlier. He had a 67% route participation (not ideal) and a 33% target share (likely not sustainable).

A matchup-based flex in deep leagues, IMO.

I've already have a trade proposal for Moss.

Trade away Moss for C.Sutton

.5PPR

My current RB and WR roster:

RB: R.Stevenson, N.Harris, Jav.Williams, AJ.Dillon, Z.Moss, J.Wilson
WR: B.Aiyuk, D.London, R.Doubs, Skyy.Moore, JSN, J.Hyatt

Does that improve my team overall? Or keep Moss and look for another WR?
My team still has issues
Mike in NY : 9/18/2023 1:49 pm : link
But it is nice to be projected as top point getter this week in 14 team Superflex league. Would have been higher if I had played Drake London or Brian Robinson Jr. in place of Van Jefferson. However, besides him, my D/ST, and my K my lowest point getter was Sam LaPorta at 8.8 (I don't believe in drafting TE's unless I can get a top tier guy so I took LaPorta in the next to last round as my only TE). Great performances from my QB's (Herbert and Sam Howell as Superflex, Pickett is on my bench and will play on bye weeks and when he has a better match-up than Howell), RB's (Saquon, Kenneth Walker III), and WR's (Tee Higgins, Gabe Davis).

I'm in 3 leagues this year
Eli Wilson : 9/18/2023 2:03 pm : link
In 2 of them I'll be 2-0.

In the 3rd, I'll be 0-2, mainly due to the fact that the Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase combination has been utter crap so far this year and no one else has stepped up.

Exactly, word was Cooper is unlikely to play. I couldn't wait until Monday night to find out it was true, so I had to replace him in my lineup with Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

No I don't like that trade at all. See if you can get DeAndre Hopkins from an impatient owner. I don't really love Hopkins this year, but even though his production is pretty depressed, He has 18 targets in two games. I think it portends to good things to come if he can stay healthy.

I think Sutton has a path to relevancy, as Russell Wilson could be on the come up to a revitalized season with Sean Payton, but Jeudy is eventually going to be the main weapon, and at some point Dulcich is going to return and he's someone I think will be really involved. I may be irrational about my Sutton dislike, he's just disappointed me in multiple fantasy seasons. I also think it's really possible Mims gets more involved.

I do think eventually both JSN and Hyatt are going to be really good fantasy options for you this season, Skyy Moore is even a sneaky guy to have, had a nice line yesterday even though I'm not in love with his utilization so far. All in all, perhaps you should look to package Moss and a player for a RB upgrade. I really don't like Najee. In fact, just pump the breaks...if Najee has a big game tonight, I would even trade both him AND Moss for bigger upgrade, perhaps a Kenneth Walker III. I'm concerned with that RB group, I think all of your RB options have season-long concerns.

But the short answer is I don't think Sutton does anything for your team except a short-term band-aid.
