Colorado is in for it the next few weeks. I’m impressed with Shedeur aside from the blatant eye poke on Saturday. They need another year to beef up at the LOS and they could make some noise next year.
Saturday night looking for body bags. There had to be four illegal hits that all looked intentional to me. I think they had close to 200 yards in penalties.
The hype ends Saturday in Eugene because Oregon is going to crush them.
That has happened to college football. Its a side show.
Sanders? I don't see that at all. He's been an economic boon for the community and the networks.
Ill say this....first time ive really been interested in CU football since ive lived here. Heck, first time ive really noticed any interest in CU football from ANYONE since ive lived here. And I like CFB a LOT. Its one of the things ive missed since moving here from FL.
That has happened to college football. Its a side show.
I feel the exact opposite. It’s put more eyes on the game, and he’s showcasing how smaller programs can gain relevancy with the new rules.
What about it is a sideshow other than social media posts that were always there anyway?
I just enjoying watching football. Last weeks game was pitiful. Colorado state was basically trying to purposely injure Colorado. And deions bravado is really hard to stomach. Some people might like it, but it rubs me the wrong way.
Don’t get me wrong - norvell was the main culprit last week. But it’s just not something that is fun for me.
I used to go to CU games in the early 90's when they were competitive, but the last 25 years have mostly been unwatchable. I never thought I would see CU football relevant and being talked about nationally ever again. Coach Prime has achieved that.
That said, I think the majority of CU fans know that they still have at least another year of recruiting before they can hope to compete with top 15 teams.
Ill say this....first time ive really been interested in CU football since ive lived here. Heck, first time ive really noticed any interest in CU football from ANYONE since ive lived here. And I like CFB a LOT. Its one of the things ive missed since moving here from FL.
Apparently, the city brought in $18M when Nebraska rolled in for the home opener.
Looking down the road, I'm curious to see if Deion actually stays after Shedeur leaves for the NFL, whether this year or next. Because Shedeur has won a lot of games for his father since he decided to play QB for him. And he's a lottery pick right now...

Not liking some of the noise is fine, but worst thing to happen to college football? That’s a bold statement IMO. Deion has these kids playing their asses off and put that program on the map way ahead of schedule. If opposing coaches and players can’t handle their emotions that’s on them.

He will jump ship right after. He wants a major program
I don’t believe he’s being falsely accused of sexual assault. My understanding was that he was disciplined for two known accusations of sexual assault in high school.
Remember the girl who got her face broken by Joe Mixon?

I'm leaning that way, too.
Just not sure where there is going to be that big spot. Michigan State? Arkansas? Florida?

Jimbo's not so hot at A&M right now and they have infinite cash to spend. But there's always an SEC team that wants in the game too.
And we're mad that there's excitement around their 3-0 ranked program?
And I don't give two shits about that kid who delivered the cheap shot. People saying it was "the worst cheap shot in recent memory" are definitely over the top, but it was 100% a cheese dick move that injured their best player and he deserves all the shit he gets for it.

He deserves his parents home address put on the internet and their phone will with death threats?

Which hit? On Hunter? The hit on Shedeur was pretty rough, too.
Never was a fan of Prime while he was lacing them, but he's making the sport more interesting. Hell, my old man-who give AF about college football-is asking me about Colorado.

Don't start nothing...
Seriously, of course, nobody deserves that kind of harassment for a football play.
But it's not like it started with Sanders.
Hit was brutal, kids is a shit and should be suspended.
Prime pushed their regents and athletic director to initiate the move because he wanted to be closer to the Texas recruiting base and from a competitive perspective, the Big 12 offers a much easier path to the CFB playoff than the B1G or SEC.
RE: Hit was brutal, kids is a shit and should be suspended.
People who send death threats and publish people's private info are also shits who should face legal/civil issues.
jrud, two things: 1) Social media sucks & 2) people take sports WAY too seriously. I could NEVER imagine being so episode about someone-a college kid mind you-that I'd resort to death threats & publishing their private info. I remember that loon who-after 'Bama lost to Auburn in the Iron Bowl-went & poisoned an oak tree in Toomer's Corner & then went on Finebaum's radio show & admitted to doing as much.
He deserves his parents home address put on the internet and their phone will with death threats?
Of course his parents don't deserve it, but
1. Nothing is going to come of it and that kid will be forgotten by this Saturday. It's hardly the first time an opposing fan base has harassed someone.
2. Don't act like a degenerate on national TV where you're willingly trying to hurt your opponent after a play and perhaps you won't invite other degenerates to seek you out after the game.

I'd actually forgotten about that, ugh

Not a bad point but getting to the playoffs will be "easier" just based on the expansion to twelve teams.

Lmfao. I love how you just know, ‘nothing is going to come of it.’ Really Nostradumbass? You know? How? You have the lotto numbers too?
What a fucking asinine, dumbass fucking comment. You’re an idiot.

Just not sure where there is going to be that big spot. Michigan State? Arkansas? Florida?
Michigan State? I wish from a recruiting standpoint though I don’t like him. I don’t see him coming to MSU.
The other thing that’s going to rub more people wrong is he’s mastered using the transfer portal to rebuild a dead program overnight. While he’s doing it within the rules (as far as we know), a lot of traditionalists probably don’t like that
A lot of coaches built their programs recruiting well out of high school - but their out of their depth having to continue recruiting their best players to stay, rather than jump to a program with potentially better NIL money and exposure
As for Deion, I suspect he ends up taking over one of the big Florida programs eventually.
Deion has proven that he doesn't need or frankly care about tradition and his system is predicated upon him being the brand as opposed to a school. He wants cart blanche to operate his personal businesses in parallel to his coaching and has zero interest in the politics or good ol' boys network that plagues many programs. Prime isn't sticking around after a game or on a weekend to kiss the ring(s) of boosters.
We do know that he is not fond of FSU, in fact he admonished a reporter that asked him about FSU mentioning that he's actually a graduate of Talladega College as opposed to FSU. Remember, he's been based out of the Dallas Ft-Worth area for the past couple of decades as opposed to Florida so there's not necessary some magnetic draw to that state.
He doesn't really have any limiting factors at CU. They can pay him whatever he wants (there's a lot of profit sharing speculation), he's proven that he can attract top talent there, they're locked into a power conference, and he basically owns the brand at this point. The one downside is that Prime hates the cold which is why I wouldn't dismiss the possibility of a warm weather locale.
The wheels keep dropping off of Jimbo Fisher's train-to-disaster...if the supporters are willing to cough up the $70 something million to fire him (which I think they will unless he has a turnaround year, which I highly doubt?), they are wacky enough to get Deion there.
It's Texas, lots of those kids want to stay in the state to play, it's a big name program that desperately needs a change of direction, and they have more money than the Kardashians. It will be interesting in a few months if Jimbo flounders again and Colorado keeps winning.
can do without all of the actors and rappers acting like the give a shit. Friday and Saturday the whole team and media acted like CSU didn't exist and the players and coaches felt disrespected. Not surprised they played dirty.
I hope Deion learns from this and keeps the sideshow away from the team, don't think he will, he loves the attention. But where were all these celebrities when he was at an underfunded HBCU?
why would he want to coach some other school? If he wants to keep coaching, he would go the the NFL I would think. Some owners are already counting the dollars he would bring...
has said in the past he does not want to coach in the NFL.
I do think it's got a little bit of irony to it coming from a former professional athlete
Quote:
I would never do that(Join NFL as a coach). I love college [because] young men are still impressionable
and then expanded on it......
Quote:
They’re(college athletes) not so financially wealthy that they can’t hear you. At the next level, some of these guys make so much money they can’t hear or see the things that they need to see. I would have a hard time motivating a man who makes upwards of 20, 30, and sometimes 40 million dollars. I got a problem with that
That said, who knows how someone will respond when a ton of cash is thrown at them, but if you take him at his word I see him more as a coach at a big college program vs NFL.
I hope Deion learns from this and keeps the sideshow away from the team, don't think he will, he loves the attention. But where were all these celebrities when he was at an underfunded HBCU?
Deion loves the attention because that's his tool to recruit. He's a football salesman. Which is the key to building a college football program.
He's actually worked his way into this job in a very traditional way. He coached Pee Wee football, travel football, high school football, Jax State (smaller program) and now bigger B5 program.
As I and others have mentioned, we'll see how committed Deion is to this when his sons leave. From the YouTube content I have seen produced by Deion Jr, the CU program's de facto head of video content, he seems to really enjoy being around his family - two sons on the football team, one daughter is on the CU basketball team, his oldest son does the video, and his oldest daughter is the family cheerleader.
Colorado's double-overtime victory against Colorado State, which ended in the early hours of Sunday in most of the country, drew 9.3 million viewers to make it the most-watched late-night college football game ever on ESPN.
The hype ends Saturday in Eugene because Oregon is going to crush them.

I (painfully) agree. And I hate Deion for his entire NFL career but I am loving his locker room speeches. It's great entertainment.

BTW, Hunter apparently has a lacerated liver...
and the Buffalos. Unfortunately, without Travis Hunter the next few weeks, they get crushed by the Ducks and Trojans.
I'm still on the Prime Train though. Haven't had this much fun in college football in awhile.

Left unsaid in all this, was feeling of disrespect Jay Norvell felt from Prime in the pregame and that spilled over into the game itself.
