Notes:
-The Mets begin their final road trip of the season (7 games) tonight at LoanDepot Park. The games tonight & tomorrow will be on SNY.
-It's partly cloudy with thunderstorms in Miami tonight (click
HERE to see the hourly AccuWeather report there), but thankfully LoanDepot Park is retractable.
-The Mets made a couple of roster moves today (click
HERE for the link):
New York Mets
@Mets
INF Luis Guillorme has been returned from his rehabilitation assignment and reinstated from the injured list. INF Jonathan Araúz has been optioned to Triple-A.

-The Mets are 8.5 games behind the Marlins (they & the Cubs are tied for the last spot, but the tie-breaker as of now goes to the Fish) for the final WC spot in the NL. Click
HERE to keep track of the playoff status of all 15 teams in the NL.
-The Mets have the 8th worst record in baseball. Three games separate the Mets from the Cards, who currently have the 6th worst record in baseball.

-The Mets are 69-80 & in 4th place in the NL East. They’re 5-5 in their last ten games and have a record of
5-2 against the Marlins so far this season.
-They've got 6 of the season's final 13 games against them. the other 7 are against the Phillies.
-Mauricio (a.k.a. "El Chimi") is 15 for 48 with a batting average of .313 since he's been called up on September 1st. He's played in 13 of 15 games with today's start at 3B being his third there.
-He's on pace to have 90 at-bats with the big club this season, which is 40 at-bats shy of the threshold required to keep him eligible for next season's ROY award, thereby potentially helping the Mets with the PPI (Prospect Promotion Incentive).
-Click
HERE to see his baseball reference page.
-The Mets' 5-man bench today will consist of
Locastro (R), Alvarez (R), Baty (L), Vogelbach (L), & Ortega (L).

Also, is it mandatory to have your name begin with J to play for the Marlins? Weird.
FYI, Mets season tix holders finally received their renewal agreement. Looks like prices stayed the same. There was also an invitation to attend an open Zoom meeting with Steve Cohen on Thursday afternoon.
The Marlins have played spoiler for the Mets too many times, including the last game at Shea in 2008 which I attended...time for a bit of payback...
Sure man. You can email me at the address in my profile.

I hear you about the Marlins Danny. I'd be interested to here what they tell season ticket holders on Thursday.

I don't care what they call you Ronny.....just keep hitting the ball hard.

lol. Keith was VERY complimentary of him earlier in the broadcast.
It feels like teams have had a lot more stints on the IL.
Any data on increased Injuries to Pitchers?
These guys are young and developing. It's a joy to watch them strut their stuff. Butto's growing in confidence each time. Same with Peterson and Megill. Lucchesi just wants to be back in the bigs. I honestly think we've got more to work with starting staff-wise then we thought we did. Get me Yamamoto and let's go.
The Mets have also got Vasil, Tidwell, Scott, Hamel, & Stuart all coming up circa 2025/2026. Vasil's a guy we could see as soon as the second half of next year perhaps. Let's see. Check out the article below from MMO.com:
2024 TRIPLE-A ROTATION MIGHT BE GLIMPSE INTO METS’ FUTURE | Posted by Petey Pete | Aug 23, 2023 - ( New Window )
95 pitches, 57 strikes
6 IP
4 H
1 R
1 ER
1 BB
6 K
0 HR
3.09 ERA
22 batters faced
1 DP
We'll see him again for at least 1 more start in 6 days, probably 2 (the last one being on the last day of the season on October 1st).

Unreal. I had no hope for him honestly.

I was thinking about what you've been saying about him when he hit that one that ate up Berger before!

Butto has turned himself into a nice little option for 24.

He's been solid. No doubt about it.
