Reason for slow start?

Throughout the threads today I've read a lot of posts about reasons for the slow start of the team this season, so I thought it might be interesting to post everything in one thread...

Look, I didn't expect this team to go 16-0, hell I didn't even expect them to go 12-4, but what I didn't expect is for them to start the season, first six quarters, and look this bad. This was the same coaching staff, same QB and same RB with improvements throughout the skill positions. On Defense, same coordinator and added some solid pieces to round out the crew. So, why have they looked so bad, particularly the defense. Luckily the offense turned it around completely, but still wondering what is going on with the defense. It is very concerning considering our schedule ahead.

It's now a 17 game regular season.

But I agree about the defense. It looked awful vs. 'Zona.

We know the offensive line wasn't ready

That the Giants started slowly in many games last year but were able to rebound and win several. It's not a trend most successful teams strive for.

That this team did not play its starters together enough in preseason. You don't really know what you have until the bullets are flying.

That’s really all it comes down to. And I think they handled preseason wrong. They rested too many starters. It wasn’t smart. And they should have picked an OL and rolled with it. If someone got hurt it didn’t really matter since they were on the fence about the OL anyway. They absolutely should have allowed one unit to get a lot of time together. They didn’t and we are seeing the repercussions from it.

Gotta play in the pre-season.

I know they try to avoid injuries, but how is a team supposed to gel on the fly once the season begins? Especially with such a tough schedule, you can't afford to come out of the gates so poorly.

Half the battle is keeping your team healthy for the games that count.

I also think the cowboys may just be that good.

For example, is the playbook complicated? We do have two new receivers and a new TE on offense. Same thing on defense, you have two rookies starting at CB.

the common denominator for the first 6 quarters of bad offense is short medium passes and not opening things up, i think its to conservative and then they opened it up..

Same with the defense, its been to conservative

Rookie center, new TE, new WR's...

It's almost as if they didn't know it was the regular season and were letting the opponent have their way with them.

Something finally clicked after halftime for the offense and the defense followed in the 4th.
