I remember when Eli suffered a shoulder separation in 2007, he was expected to miss at least a month. Nevertheless, Eli took the field the following week and played. We got our shit kicked in by the Packers in an utterly embarrassing performance (I was at the game), but it spoke volumes on the type of competitor Eli was.
Not all injuries are created alike, but could you imagine that happening these days? Could you imagine a QB or any positional player playing the following week after suffering an injury like that?

Thanks turd Mcadoo!
This is when I stopped listening to ESPN. I swear Mort said it could’ve been longer, but I can’t recall
LT was an exception and his heroic moments while injured likely shortened his career by a few years. Or maybe it didn't.
Most guys want to play. This talk that players are softer and don't care as much as guys did 15 years ago is highly speculative. If a guy can play he's going to play.
There are probably more injuries today. Maybe guys are just getting injured more frequently? MAybe some players sit out more because they know which way the wind blows, I am looking at you mr NFL RB. Can you blame them? Other than maybe that, I think guys will play if they are allowed to play.
That's another thing, leave the concussion thing out of this debate entirely. We know that whole element has changed things dramatically.
The guy with the shoulder injury who can suck it up? He did it 20 years ago and he's doing it today.
Didn't it come out later that he heard it from Archie Manning? Or am I misremembering?
I think you're right. It was an elbow injury I think.
