Is it TikTok but are these games getting really violent? I saw one insane 49er/Bengal altercation in preseason and now this dude is pushing daisies after getting punched by a Fin Fan in his own stadium!
I went to an A's/Giants game a ago and swore never again. Women were sucker punching each other, slapping drinks out of hands and every one was just horribly belligerent.
How can people get that drunk on 15 dollar bud lights???
Decline of America - (
New Window )
In general, I agree that watching from home is preferred for most games, but being at the game and witnessing the comeback from 20 - 0 and 28 - 7 was really cool.
How many fans have to watch years of their organization losing with the owners making no attempt to win as long as they made some profit. Heck, right in our own backyard the Wilpons deployed that strategy for years. Occasionally they would run ass backwards into a good season. What about the former Florida Marlins? They'd stockpile great talent, win, then sell the organization. Washington Redskins...list goes on.
Lesson here is find other things in life to be more passionate about and treat these sports for what they are, entertainment and a brief break.
No arrests have been made yet. Don't be surprised if they do arrest someone for this. Usually they collect all evidence before arresting someone including an autopsy, security footage, witness statements, etc.

Last time I was there was in 2011. Cardinals fans are really tame and I'd have no problems going back with my kids.
Exactly this. I feel really bad for my son. We've got the money to go, but I just can't justify spending a thousand bucks on the 'live game experience'.
Not just ability, desire to. It has somehow become hip to be an asshole these days post-pandemic.
NE fans have usually been casual bandwagoners, but the Red Sox fan base always had an element of the unhinged die hards.
I remember one time (after a WAS win over NYG - me in Eli jersey) I was leaving the stadium and a group of dudes were running their mouths. All I had to say was F-off to one of them and I would have been in the middle of it. I said nothing and walked away. I hope I ruined their night.
I’ve gotten to this point also. Add in 3 hours to get home to Long Island sitting in bumper to bumper traffic, it’s just not worth it anymore.
I like the replays without ads after the game is played.
It costs money but not like a real game.
I would like to see the GMEN vs. SF but thats in San Jose, a horrible car commute down there and the stadium sucks. 49er fans are insanely low class as well.
Sadly, this is now very true...I had season tix for years at the old stadium and enjoyed having them for most of those years. When the Giants moved to the new stadium and asked for PSL's I said no thank you....one of my smarter decisions.
I went to a single game last year with my son, and it was pretty miserable (plus it was the Lion's game so they got smoked).
Took forever to get out there, just as long to get home, seats in the Upper Deck were about $400, and the time outs were endless....not to mention the beyond annoying/stupid "ittttsssss 3rd down!!"
And then you have the drunk idiots....
There will be an arrest with all this attention
In NY we call it a one punch homicide
If agreed upon fight and no intent to kill - it’s a misdemeanor
Yessir, then mix in the drunks and lowest common denominator types who plan their lives around being smashed at football games, and I'd rather stay home. I've had idiots of all ages try and get my goat, and I've had to laugh in their faces and tell them to take their seat.

Attending the Giants - Cardinals game in Phoenix for what it’s worth.

I was there too, had a great time and the Arizona fans were almost timid. We also went to two of the Diamondback v Cubs games and the Chicago fans far outnumbered the hometown fans, and omg were they obnoxious. Among the worst I've ever seen.
As fantastic an experience as the Giant comeback was live, I doubt I'll ever go to a football game at any stadium again if this was typical in terms of the loudness of the stadium. The dome was closed and after every commercial break they encourage the crowd to "make some noise" and showed the decibil level reaching over 100, like that is a good thing! Broken loudspeakers crackling the deep base on most of the earshattering music was too much for this old timer... I know, I know get off my lawn or bring ear plugs next time.
I have no desire to spend the money and time going to MetLife and be surrounded by the world's worst people.
It's sad to admit, but the fans at home games are as bad as any stadium in the NFL. And if you want a real window into low lifes just take NJ transit. That's a showcase on exactly who you don't want your kids to be when they grow up.
I think the number one issue is people egging on fights to capture and post them on social media. I remember after a few blows, people breaking up fights when I was a kid. Now it's cell phones shoved in the middle and encouragement.
I've been to most of the best college towns in the country - Happy Valley, South Bend, Knoxville, Swamp, Hedges, Big House, Horseshoe, Tuscaloosa, Auburn - and you are 100% right. And it's not even close.
That said, I'm sure if you go in looking for a fight you can find one, I just haven't seen the frequency of them change much.

This describes all my experiences there as well. Being from down here I used to go to a lot of Giants Skins games before I finally said this is stupid. And dudes always talk shit. I either walk away OR say “what am I gonna do, fight ten dudes by myself? I will concede you guys will win.” Usually gets a chuckle and it cools the situation.
During the Xmas Eve shalacking we laid on them in 2009 I was shouting down to Ahmad and Terrel Thomas (I believe) and Ahmad was acknowledging me and giving me a thumbs up. This asshole redneck from PG County turns around and says “you’re really fucking annoying I should beat your ass.” Well there happens to be NYG fan in the row behind me, weighing about 250 LBs, shirt off in freezing cold painted blue and red. Leans forward to the skins fan and says “I’d like to see you try.” The shit head red neck turned around grumbling under his breath. And me and the big dude looked at each other and I gave him a head nod and mouthed “thanks”. He acknowledged. A few minutes later the redneck left the game.
I wasn’t even talking shit to the guy or the fans. I was telling Ahmad to pop another and TT2 to take a pick 6 to the house.
that bothers me. wtf are people thinking paying that kind of money for a regular season game. It drives the price up. This is exactly why we are being gouged. People spend foolishly. I don't car if he or she is rich, it's fucking dumb.
Between the ones getting up right in the middle of the play despite there being 2.5 hours of down time throughout and the maniacs that are apparently only allowed to get drunk on sunday's in public --i am losing interest more and more in actually going in to the games.
I want to setup a tailgate with the TV and just stay out in the lot all day long. The parking lot is perfect. People aren't too dumb/drunk just yet--let the assholes walk in to the game where they lose their shit. I'd stay out in the lot and be happy --problem is I don't have the ambition or energy to setup that whole thing.

I keep waiting for the price point to finally get to a stage where people stop paying it...but it hasn't happened yet.

Yep. This is why average joes can’t go to games much anymore without saving for a year. And then on top of that their team could lose in embarrassing fashion. You combine those two things and regular people are going to stop going. Funny thing is, I bet there is a price structure that could be afrordable for everyone and make more money while ticket prices and concessions costs are lower because more will be consumer because more folks will attend.
Owners of good teams need to seriously think about how the stadium won’t be full when the glory days are over. If the place was affordable people would probably still come when the team sucked. Because they are fans. If you price them out when the team is good then they ain’t coming back when they suck.

+1. I see the evidence of that on this website all the time.

This is happening with live music as well. On one hand I'm happy as hell the artists I enjoy are making money in an industry that will rob them blind if they aren't careful. At the same time I've been going to see some bands for 20 years now, but if I want a decent spot you have to pay for a VIP package. And now they have several VIP package options, including one that is completely sans-merch and is essentially a $100-$200 ticket to get in 15 minutes before everyone else. Gone are the days of getting your GA ticket and waiting in line all day for your spot. Which is the way it should be. You want the rail, put your time in. Now with a lot of bands, if you don't pay 3x the price of a standard ticket you aren't getting a decent spot. If you can even get a ticket without paying for a fan club membership due to all the bots, which are already inflated because of bullshit like "convenience fees".
The extent to which the consumer gets fucked is just insane these days.
I have no desire to spend the money and time going to MetLife and be surrounded by the world's worst people.
You should absolutely stay home buddy.
Me and my 13 year old kid will continue to go to every game and have no problems whatsoever other than the team losing. JFC.
Yep, I haven’t been to an NFL game in years. Usually visit a new college stadium every year.

No, you’re right MetLife is a post apocalyptic hellscape from which you can only pray to return from. “Full of the world’s worst people”? How do some of you guys leave the house every day?
I have been going to games since 1981 and somehow I’ve never gotten into a fight. But defiantly watch the games at home. Leave the fun to us.
And I think that's been a byproduct of the team being terrible for a decade. The cost of entry makes it an activity vs. a game for a lot of the crowd. Getting day of tickets is cheaper today than it was 10 years ago.
I've seen it with a number of teams in the cities I've lived -- the worse the team the worse the crowd.
Hopefully back-to-back winning years levels it out.
[quote] I obviously don't mean everyone fits the bill, but at this stage in my life the last thing I want to be around is a bunch of guys who aren't interested in the game and are just interested in getting trashed. Don't get me wrong, I love getting trashed -- at a bar, at home, at a BBQ. But not at a game.

"Hopefully back-to-back winning years levels it out".
I'm not sure that's the answer. I think it's a bigger problem than football games.
I think it's a societal problem; it's about emotional regulation.
I think since the recesion of 2008, then the pandemic, a lot of people have started living close to the edge of their limits; emotional limits, financial limits,
health limits, etc. Someone who is filled with adrenaline and cortisol most of the time, feeling presure at work, having some marital problems, worried about money, goes to a football game, has a few drinks, and loses control.
I see some of that here in the game day threads.
Alcohol
Alcohol cannot be brought into or out of the stadium. The sale of alcohol is limited to two per customer per purchase, with all sales ceasing at the end of the third quarter. Any person purchasing alcohol who appears to be less than 30 years of age, must present a valid I.D. No alcohol will be sold to intoxicated guests, and we reserve the right to refuse the sale of alcohol at our discretion. If you choose to drink, please do so responsibly.
This is a tragic and stupid story. But I always respect the other team’s house since I usually see the Giants away.

in person is stupid. With ripoff prices at stadiums and wide screen TVs with instant replay, why watch in person.

I spent $100 for my ticket ; took NJ transit there which I can't remember how much that was, but could not have been that much ; and also bought a rip off 15 dollar beer. How are you spending 1000s of dollars?

That said, if only this were possible for everyone.
It can easily run up to a thousand dollars. Lowest tickets are like 125ish + a Ticketmaster fee that makes it almost 200 a ticket per person. If you want to go with multiple people it will easily get over 1k.
I go at least once a year with my brothers and father and 4 seats usually runs us like $1200 for the seats + Ticketmaster fees. Then you have to pay for parking pass and if you tailgate, the supplies. Its hardly worth it these days.
