copy cat league

They say that the NFL is a copy-cat league.
None of the all- time great coaches I have watched going back to Lombardi, Landry and Shula played with 2 down lineman. None of the good teams now play that way. I do not think that you can stop the run with a light weight defense or rush the passer by confusing the offense if you do not have at least 3 lineman pushing the pocket.

I agree with post yesterday Joey Va that Wink needs to change his packages or go.

How does the copycat angle play to two DL? Teams try new things all the time. When something works, they do copy it. What does that have to do with Wink? And the whole 3 DL thing is a little vague. What do you mean by that? If we ran a traditional 4-3, guys like Ward would be DE so you have your linemen there.

Rather than constantly starting your own threads, how about reply to Joey's post so that you can just keep an already-existing discussion going.

Have to do with what was done 50/60 years ago. The best coaches are innovative and trying new things. Someone was the first at something at some point. At some point someone through the first forward pass. Who cares what defenses in the early 60s were like compared to today.
