You can bitch and moan all you want about this player or that player, this unit or that unit, coaching decisions, draft picks, etc.
But one team is a legit Super Bowl contender with one of the NFL's best offenses and one of the NFL's best defenses.
This will be on my front page write-up:
"Statistically, the game was not close. The 49ers dramatically out-gained the Giants in offensive snaps (78 to 46), first downs (26-10), total net yards (441 to 150), net yards rushing (141 to 29), net yards passing (300 to 121), and time of possession (39:10 to 20:50). The 49ers were also 9-of-16 on 3rd down (56 percent) while the Giants were only 3-of-12 (25 percent)."
In other words, they are simply a much, much better team. If these two teams play each 10 times, the Giants would be lucky to beat them once.
And with the makeshift OL we had on the field? With no Barkley?
C'mon.
There's no need to overreact to losing to a team on the road on Thursday night who has won 14/15 games and last two losses were the Eagles and Chiefs.
10 days to rest, season is LONG from over
Soft shit at that.
SF is a more physical, tougher team. Purdy is lucky to have such a team around him. I'm not impressed by his play.
I didn't think we would win under the current circumstances, but I thought we would tackle at least.
Forget the offense. The defense has been the most troubling thing this season.
No big plays, and can't get off the field. Giving up a 3-15 and a 3-13 on the same drive?!? Come on...
Their roster is the most unknown roster in the NFL. And on both sides of the ball. You could argue it's the worst in the NFL on paper. Just study their OL. It's unreal.
So, I was hoping we could steal a few pages from that.
Of course, having Stafford didn't hurt, but, JFC, look at this receivers...
And given the talent discrepancy. I did not want to get embarrassed and we didn't.
My thing is they get away from the run and the Kafka tries to use PA. He tried PA the drive that started inside our 10 and Jones got sacked at the 1. Run the fucking football.
Quote:
They went way to one dimensional on offense again and tried to chase points. They only ran the ball 11 times tonight. Everything they did that worked for them last year they have gone away from this year.

Especially with this line. All their strengths are in their run blocking. They suck in pass protection and yet we still drop back way to much and have guys in Jones face in 2 seconds or less
Rewind that Seahawks at home first. But even more important. There’s not a lot of margin for error on this opening schedule and gotta steal one and/or be perfect on the winnable games.
Right. It is like they are trying very hard to change their identity from last year. And I really don’t understand why Wink continues to go to a 2-man front when they can’t stop the run and can’t generate pressure either.

Speaking of soft…McKinney’s tackling was about as solid as a jar of Gerber baby food tonight.

We couldn’t block anyone.
The Giants went to the playoffs last year and beat at 14-win team.
No.... the fact that I have to explain this is shocking. Look at the age and experience level of the players up front now. And they just played one of the top, perhaps the the top DL in football.

is trending every year. It just seems like whatever they do is not working? This team always under performing. It also seems like they can sign any star player from in free agency, and somehow they regress when they come to the Giants? Like this team makes them average? Just can't put a finger on it. It's frustrating..

Now you know because you said it yourself, the Giants had a very easy schedule! Very easy. They caught a few teams by surprise. On top of that, the Giants had an edge with new coaching in place. Other teams had to figure out the new coaching schemes, play-calling, tendencies, etc.
New year and for the most part teams have figured out Daboll, and for sure they all know what to expect from Kafka & Wink. This team had to get better talent wise overall and be better prepared for a much tougher schedule. So far things having not been trending well.
First you say the Giants are never competitive.
Now you're saying the NFL has "figured" out our coaches while at the same time pointing to the harder schedule.
You're not making any sense.

Please, go to a real 3 man DL with Dex in the middle. That's a start. Ward is not a DE.

Look, I'll make it simple ok. I'm not even considering this game against the 49ers. Do you feel confident and satisfied with what the NY Giants are putting on the field (talent-wise) and the team's overall trend?
Add in the officials allowing the 49ers to get away with blatant holds throughout the game...Trent Williams and #74 were wrapping people up. Jusych (44 FB) on McCaffery's big run had Okereke in a bear hug in the middle of the hole - how the hell does an NFL official not see that as it was the hole McCaffery went through.
Did they explain how the kicker jumped the snap and a penalty was not called on the FG.
Yes stats do not lie, but for as bad as they played they still were in it until the 4th quarter.
