and try to get a late 3rd or 4th rounder. Right now, he is a lot more important to the Cowboys than he is to this current version of the New York Giants. Dallas could plug and play him into Trevon Diggs spot and not miss a beat.
And over the next couple of years, I would be EXTREMELY careful about signing mid-level free agents during the off-season. IMO, second-contract players from other teams are not the answer as Joe Schoen & Brian Daboll continue to re-build this team. What's needed most is a continuous infusion of young & hungry college talent that can grow and mature TOGETHER in order to form a nucleus that can one day compete with the upper echelon of the NFL.
Generally, I'm not a fan of moving good players out of their roles. AJ at outside CB was one of the rock's of our D. He goes from being a + player at a premium position, to a liability. He doesn't know what he's doing in the slot. Both Holmes and Flott are likely better options.
Not sure about trading him to DAL, but I see why you'd consider it.
Because we are not competing with them this season. And we need draft picks to help build this team up.
The ideal approach IMO is to keep our powder dry, build primarily through the Draft, establish a strong base of a team and then add a top-tier FA when need be... a "final" piece if you will.
That's my thinking.
In order to justify a trade with a hated divisional rival, I'd think the prize would have to be higher than a 4th or even a 3rd.
It is likely any pick from Dallas will be very late in whatever round it is in, so that needs to be factored in. Dallas may end up in the NFC Championship game.
I think you ask for a 2024 2nd and hold firm. Or maybe a 2024 3rd and a 2025 2nd.
I doubt it happens.
Sometimes you have to strike when the iron is hot. And I don't see it so much as throwing in the towel as playing our young players to see how they develop over the season.

I agree! A 2nd would be perfect... a 3rd would be maybe a fall-back position.
Hey... ya never know!!! LOL

If not some of it on second contracts for players from other teams. Just sign our own and wait on the draft to get us all the talent we need.

This place is steaming bloody murder that the youngest starting roster in the league can’t match up with powerhouses like the Cowboys and 49ers. But you suggest we just wait it out for what, another couple of years to let the roster develop. Hey, I’ve been saying we need to be realistic about where we are. Your plan though could get you lynched if this board knew where you lived. :)
screw philly.
Too funny!
Another option Dallas could also just resign Anthony Brown to a vet minimum contract for further depth. He knows the whole defense.
Lastly Dallas has more contracts to work out by next year. Highly doubtful they use draft capital to acquire another one.
Barkley- Bills
Jones - Jets
Dexter - Eagles
Williams - ?
Lets see how we do for a few more games before unloading the talent.

Dexter is a keeper and so is Daniel Jones. And I’m a HUGE Saquon Barkley fan so I would rather not part ways. But Leonard Williams! Now you’re talking!

that’s a move you make when you are out of it at the deadline. Doing it now is throwing in the towel after 3 games.

When you have 2 rookies at CB with one possible hurt, then trading your vet is absolutely throwing in the towel. You may not see it that way, but I can pretty much guarantee Daboll and Wink would be furious.
I love Azeez Ojulsri’s potential but neither you nor me nor any NFL team loves his lack of availability. There ain’t a G.M. in his right mind who would give us a 4.
You realize the other 31 teams know this too, right?
I like the idea of extra draft picks and the thought of Schoen/Daboll molding a whole bunch of young players into a killer team one day. The process is underway, even if sometimes it doesn’t feel like it, and management just needs more runway.

I hear what you’re saying and I agree. But I view Adoree’ Jackson / Dallas as a special one-off situation that enhances his value even more as a trading “piece” than as a full year player with the 2023 Giants.

When did this board become so full of people ready to toss away a season after 3 games?

There’s no way you’re actually serious, right?
Forgive me if I don’t want to help Dallas win for the potential of a day 3 pick. What kind of message does that send to the rest of the roster and the rest of the league?
There should be one thing on the Giants’ mind right now. Beat the Seattle Seahawks to get to 2-2. Now if we’re in mid October and the season looks absolutely lost, then I can see your point.
Secondly, no team in their right mind makes a trade within the division to help a team who's going to beat you like a rented mule in the future.
We ain't toast. Yet. If we start trading players because the season appears lost, we trade outside our division and get the most we can.

I'll say it again... one mo' time. I'm not suggesting throwing in the towel by selling off our best players. But I view Adoree’ Jackson / Dallas as a special one-off situation that enhances his value even more as a trading “piece” than as a full year player with the 2023 Giants.
I’d take a number one in a heart beat. But outside of that, zero chance I’d help Dallas. Taking a 1 from them though will hurt them and greatly help us. Even if it is a late 1 when the dust settles.
