after he punched A’Shawn Robinson on the side of his grill. Saw this in The Athletic and will paraphrase (and if already posted will delete.)
IMO, he should have been tossed based on an X video on PFF which clearly shows Trent WIlliams striking A'Shawn Robinson with a closed fist. In any event, here goes:
"We...just didn’t see anything that rose to the level of flagrant... we couldn’t confirm... it truly (was a) closed fist with a strike..."
I thought the refs Thursday Night sucked, and they missed this call big time, but whatever. The Giants needed a hell of a lot more than better refs to win that game.
That reffing crew definitely gave some home cooking to SF on their calls.
Here's the real explanation - "we f'd up!" or "because of 49er team quality and Williams' stature as a player, Hochuli sucked his testicles into his body like a turtle sucks their head into their shell, and made a referee's career decision".
Meanwhile all the sports talking heads acted like Sgt Shultz on Hogan's Heroes "seeing nothing".
with a significant fine and/or 1-game suspension, then it just reinforces the (extremely) low regard I hold the NFL as a corporate organization.

Seems like Hochuli loves himself some TV time as much as his old man did.
"Honey, where's my shirt that makes my arms look bigger?... You know, the one Al Michaels creams over..."

define flagrant punches versus non-flagrant?

And this^^
THIS one has me outraged.
Did the Giants defenders on the field NOT realize what had just happened? Ane then to see Davidson taunted/bumped into as he left the field holding his injured elbow, THAT was the be-all to end-all. I wanted to jump through the F***ing screen. Just disgraceful act.
Pictures or GTFO.
Are 9er fans also saying Greenlaw slipped on a banana peel when he late hit Slayton? Fuck that team and fuck their fans.
that same drive the niners db is beat and he grabs hodgins the rest of the route, no call..
2nd half they call the ticky tack penalty on Thibs..
Giants were not going to win but they shouldnt of had to play with a different set of rules

about the DJ Davidson injury? Or Buford's actions afterward?

Coupled with not sticking up for Jones in the Dallas game, I see a trend with this team. Definitely lacks an edge/asshole presence that is needed in football. It just is.
Every single team in the league should know if they try this crap on the Giants to watch their backs. Especially Jones.

They always do.
Bummer

The moment they did that, McCaffrey should not have walked out of that game in one piece.
The Refs are not tossing out all pro players on playoff teams.
They will toss out no name players on shitty teams without hesitation because nobody will question it
Its not fair but that is the reality and the nfl knows this and their silence condones it.
Interestingly, all their example plays have the player ejected for landing a punch.
So Banks was shoved, Williams shoved back, then took a hit that was very first and unnoticed.
All that was focused on was Williams' more flagrant hit.
But the evidence is there on Twitter/IG.
I thought it was uncharacteristic of Williams, and I was right.
Not saying it's right, but certainly it wasn't the first punch.
And for that, it's a good no call unless both get ejected/penalized/fined.

Williams was a human grab machine the whole game, he and Buford.
He may have been hit before the punch - he and A'Shawn, I think, traded shoves and then Williams threw the punch. Don't care if he got shoved, throwing a punch wasn't warranted.
He has a history of doing flagrant shit. He was ejected from the Eagles NFC Championship game for fuck's sake. He has been fined for punching Richard Sherman.
You should probably get a better grasp of what uncharacteristic means.

Come on Fats.... It's not like he killed somebody
