How about giving these guys a chance:
1. Dane Benton had 31 tackles last season and tied Julian Love for the team lead in interceptions with 2 - he is the only true ballhawk we have - he got 1 snap on D in the San Fran game out of 83 total D snaps.
2. Nick McCloud had 43 tackles and 1.5 sacks last season - he got 0 snaps on D in the San Fran game - a good cover guy and a sure and aggressive tackler in my opinion.
3. Tomon Fox had 24 tackles and 1 sack last season in limited playing time and always seemed to be around the ball pressuring the QB which is a skill we desperately need. He was inactive for the San Fran game.
4. Jordan Riley played well in the preseason and has the size and strength to help up front. He was inactive for the 49er game.
All of these players are tough nosed and not afraid to tackle. I think the coaches should utilize their skills and give them a chance to at least play some of the game (maybe even more) and give the starters a rest. What do you say?
Oh, and Jalin Hyatt. Criminally underutilized vs SF - maybe because he’s a deep threat and they couldn’t pass protect? However, I think Slayton/Hyatt/Wan’Dale is the ideal receiving trio moving forward - with Hyatt being subbed out for Hodgins in short yardage/redzone packages.
I’ve seen enough of Parris Campbell. Not sure he does anything particularly well as a receiver.

This defense is full of guys with RAS scores off the charts. The whole team is. Maybe Schoen needs to learn how to focus on players vs athletes when he constructs his future rosters. Country mouse doesn't seem to be doing too hot with his drafts. At least last year his FA signings were nice. This year, so far, not so much.
I expect we will see Hodgins, Slayton, Hyatt and Robinson over Campbell as the season goes on.
Quote:
ought to go to Sheppard. Guaranteed for the same amount of targets he'd avg more 1st down and yards per target.
Beasley
I’d put Beasley or Shepard out there before Campbell. Those guys know how to get open and move the chains.
I'd like to see more Belton, also. He hits and he seems to make things happen. But who would he replace? McKinney and Pinnock seem pretty entrenched at this point. Seems it would take a 3 safety scheme to get him in
