Is this idea crazy?

I've been thinking against teams with a formidable passrush we should run a base set with Ezeudu as a swing tackle along with the o line Daboll stated he will use of AT-Bredeson-JMS-mcKethan..then we would have a rb, Jones, and a combination for 3 of Robinson, Hyatt, Waller, Campbell, and Slayton. Rotate the receiving threats to keep them fresh and keep Ezeudu in as a swing tackle for most of the game. I know it might sound pathetic, unorthodox and downright ridiculous but I'm sick of seeing a completely inept offensive line and if it takes having the normal set 5 o line with a pretty much permanent swing tackle then sign me up. Keep Ezeudu in to double their best passrusher and help on the right side while letting AT anchor the blind side.

Why not?
I don't think you know what swing tackle means.

I think you mean have an extra OL on the field in Ezeudu. If that is the case, why wouldn't their best pass rusher just line up outside the extra OL and still create a one on one matchup? I think it would work in spurts but it isn't something that is going to be beneficial the more you use it. The advantage of it is how defenses counter. When an offense brings in an extra OL, a defense is more likely to play their base defense or a bear defense. That alone will help the passing game. Doing it often will lead to teams just throwing out their nickel defense and covering our guys. As we have seen many times before, we have breakdowns all over the OL. We gave up a sack when the defense only brought 3.

Yeah I didn't mean swing tackle in a traditional sense, I was imagining Ezeudu rotating to one side or another and even having him in the backfield at times as a fullback for blocking, but I see what you're saying that it would be really easy to defend the pass if it was overused.

I would think it'd be good to try once in a while and I haven't seen them try all year.
I don't think putting any player

in a position they aren't used to is going to yield positive results.
You mean tackle

eligible...just give him a number in the 80s and leave him on the line as a TE!
Yes I just mean tackle eligible,

Using our current swing tackle as a more permanent fixture in the offensive gameplan. We need a Kyle Juszczyk type in the future, that would be a welcomed addition.
Wow! Heavy drining and it’s only Tuesday.

The funny part is that I don't drink, this decade of o line woes is driving me bonkers
I suggested this........

many years ago. Sure there is flaws, but I think more times than not, with several elusive and/or fast "pass catchers", you won't need "that" much more time.

Even if it does not work every play, you only need it to work on average one out of three. And if it helps the run game even a little, and Barkley is not still hurt (big if), he has many times just been on the cusp of breaking a long one.

Obviously, you would need O-lineman that actually touch a defender, and maybe we don't even have 5 of those guys, let alone 6.
Or....

Just use a Tight End.

It's part of their job already

We have WRs that can get open, Jones doesn't have time. We could probably run pretty well from that formation too.
