I've been thinking against teams with a formidable passrush we should run a base set with Ezeudu as a swing tackle along with the o line Daboll stated he will use of AT-Bredeson-JMS-mcKethan..then we would have a rb, Jones, and a combination for 3 of Robinson, Hyatt, Waller, Campbell, and Slayton. Rotate the receiving threats to keep them fresh and keep Ezeudu in as a swing tackle for most of the game. I know it might sound pathetic, unorthodox and downright ridiculous but I'm sick of seeing a completely inept offensive line and if it takes having the normal set 5 o line with a pretty much permanent swing tackle then sign me up. Keep Ezeudu in to double their best passrusher and help on the right side while letting AT anchor the blind side.
Why not?
Yeah I didn't mean swing tackle in a traditional sense, I was imagining Ezeudu rotating to one side or another and even having him in the backfield at times as a fullback for blocking, but I see what you're saying that it would be really easy to defend the pass if it was overused.
I would think it'd be good to try once in a while and I haven't seen them try all year.
The funny part is that I don't drink, this decade of o line woes is driving me bonkers
Even if it does not work every play, you only need it to work on average one out of three. And if it helps the run game even a little, and Barkley is not still hurt (big if), he has many times just been on the cusp of breaking a long one.
Obviously, you would need O-lineman that actually touch a defender, and maybe we don't even have 5 of those guys, let alone 6.
It's part of their job already
