10 Days for this staff to prepare

SoZKillA : 9/27/2023 10:15 am
For a team coming across the country.

We really, really, really need to get off to a fast start Monday Night, I'd love to see an 9 play drive ending with a TD and go from there. I feel like I haven't seen that in a while. This team has it in them to score, getting Thomas and BB should help.

There is no excuse to start this game like we did against Arizona. SF and Dallas are two of the best defenses we will see all season so I'm not surprised we struggled. Andy Fking Dalton threw all over this secondary, this team should have no excuses why they can't do the same.
Zero excuses

played in Seattle last season. Let's see how Daboll prepares this time around against a veteran SB winning coach who handed him his lunch the last time they met, this time with homefield advantage. It's a referendum game for him in that sense.

get off to a fast start, whether its defense getting a 3 and out or offense going right down the field...Cant be playing from behind every single game..They got off to a better start agaonst the niners but the offense really couldnt do anything..

That game was extremely frustrating. From James muffed punts to the offense looking like they weren't even trying. Kafka called an awful game.

I hate these primetime games for the Giants but regardless, we need to get this W!
Totally agree.
redwhiteandbigblue : 9/27/2023 10:41 am : link
Thus far the game plans on both sides of the ball make us look very unprepared. With 10 days to practice, view film, etc., we cannot possibly come out unprepared. If this happens, as much as many of us would be reluctant to do so, we need to question this coaching staff. Last years "honeymoon" is over. Game preparation quite simply needs to see a major improvement. It's one thing to get outplayed but so far these games smell of inadequate preparation.

Win the game.

This is a huge huge game and one that will set the tone for the rest of the season. There is a gap between the top teams and the next level group, and then the bottom tier teams.

IMO the Giants need to win this game to prove that they arent in the bottom tier of teams in the NFL.
Seattle have been a stalwart...

against the run and swiss cheese against the pass. They are 31st in pass defense.

Do the math. Should be a game where Dabka can turn Jones loose, especially at home.

Seattle is coming off a.big win and game time is 5 pm based on their

How much of Seattle's pass defense issues have been due to missing Woolen and Love? Were they playing poorly while those two were on the field as well?
Thinking back to that one drive the 1st team offense played in the PS

60 days to prepare for the cowboys.....so days to prepare does not help this team. Blocking, tackling......that is what they need to work on because opposing team's punters get very little work until their backup offense gets some time in during the final quarter.....until they march out their victory formation as the home fans boo and leave en mass.....rinse, repeat.....je ja lose all over again.
I can give somewhat of a pass thus far
UberAlias : 9/27/2023 11:05 am : link
We knew SF and Dallas were going to be tough starts, but we're a miracle comeback away from being 0-3 and the schedule is on our favor on this one for a change. I've been saying I believe our best football is ahead of us, but if that's true, we had better see it coming together this week. This season is running out of excuses.
Not to be an ass
redwhiteandbigblue : 9/27/2023 11:08 am : link
but if you think the entire 60 days of camp and preseason was for preparing for the Cowboys, you are nuts. It is spent evaluating talent and teaching numerous offensive and defensive schemes. I am sure they did not start preparing for the Cowboys until a few weeks b4.

And this is exactly my point that there has been a lack of preparation.

Yes, i completely agree that tackling, blocking, etc. are severely lacking but from a fans standpoint we sit at the game and can see the defensive schemes for and against us(as well as offensive ones) and there is something missing. Being successful running the ball and then the next drive completely going away from it is on the coaching staff. There also seems to be a lack of heart on the field. That may be my own misperception but it sure feels that way.

Just win the game hopefully they can get ahead however I don’t think we have to get off to a fast start to win. What happens if we don’t….just win the game.

They have Jamal Adams coming back this week. No more swiss cheese in pass game.

I don't think Seattle is that good. I don't think the Giants are either right now. I think this is kind of a must win for the Giants.
We've lost 5 of our last 6 meetings with the Hawks
OBJ_AllDay : 9/27/2023 11:25 am : link
Including the back breaking slip inside the 5 by Victor Cruz as the 4th quarter was coming to an end which swung things from game winning drive to game over Hawks win. The only win in those last 6 meeting? A shocking upset by one Colt McCoy.

It' time to beat this team and save the season.

And we were also a few easy interceptions turned drops away from changing that 49ers game entirely. Can look at it both ways.

You may choose to look at it that way, but to my eyes, it was fairly clear we're not on the same level as SF.

Kind of? Every game in this league is must win, especially when youre backs are against the wall.
Yes
SoZKillA : 9/27/2023 12:04 pm : link
Seattle is good against the run but LA, Detroit, Carolina all have subpar running games and backs... we do too if we don't have 26 however.
Solid dependable Tackling does not get you paid

I fear he is trying to force the splash play with going for the ball or trying to knock the guy down with a shoulder. His fundamentals are out of whack.
This is the kind of game good coaches win...

I think the Giants win.
RE: game plans on both sides of the ball make us look very unprepared
Trainmaster : 9/27/2023 12:48 pm : link
I agree.

One of the things most confusing and frustrating to me so far in the 2023 has been the coaching staff. What I believed going into the 2023 season was that the Giants coaching staff, given they made chicken salad out of a chicken sh*t roster in 2022, would lead the team to more success in 2023 based on a healthier and more talented roster.

So far the Giants seem to have poorly prepared players (I was at the Arizona game. The defense seemed to be confused, looking lost at each other frequently as in a Betcher defense), with incorrect and mostly inflexible game plans.

It appears the Giants have been outcoached in 2023. Only one of the issues in 2023, but the one I’m most surprised about.
Can we please stick with the run
kelly : 9/27/2023 1:25 pm : link
And not quit and go pass happy

Can we please stop the run. I mean you simply cannot play defense and not stop the run. I dont care how many players you need to put in the box. Stop the damn run. And if they pass blitz the qb and put him on his ass.

Line up and play football and stop trying to win on scheme alone.

+100, Carroll did all his rah-rah antics on the sideline, and Daboll looked peeved during the post-game handshake.
Real good litmus test
Skittlebish : 9/27/2023 4:08 pm : link
This is a poor defense, if the O cannot put up points in this game, it will start to look very bleak.
Also, its hard to see this D keeping Seattle below 30, so keeping pace will be vital
Honestly, this is the type of defense Jones can excel against; they will let him see open receivers. However, last year we got out game planned...that cannot happen this year.
Didn’t we have months to prep for Cowgirls?

And Carroll isn't a good coach? I'm not a fan of his style, but it's hard to argue with his record.
