..
nygiants16 : 9/27/2023 2:21 pm : link

Adrian Wojnarowski
@wojespn
Lillard goes Milwaukee as part of a 3-team deal with Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, a 2029 unprotected MIL 1st, and unprotected MIL swap rights in 2028 and 2030 to Blazers. Phoenix lands Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen, Nassir Little and Keon Johnson.

Totally agree.
Dame is Dame
Enzo : 9/27/2023 2:29 pm : link
but Holiday is really good. Obviously the Bucks didn't have enough to get Dame without giving up Holiday, but I don't think the net gain from Holiday to Dame is as big as some might think.

Really curious about why Phoenix

Milwaukee has a strong trio
nygiants16 : 9/27/2023 2:30 pm : link
if healthy, Middleton and Lillard have not been healthy the last few years and they are going to miss Holiday's defense and Allen was a good roleplayer for them..

Bit the spacing they are going to have for Giannis is going to be insane

meh I don't think it affects us so bad. We probably weren't winning the east this year any way, Giannis was never coming here and better that Dame didn't go to Miami.

Yea I figured that but I feel like the group of players that got back from him was undeniably worse. But maybe there was a negative market for him and they're just trying to unload him.

No Giannis and the gap in the east is now wider with the Bucks. As you have said numerous times, you are waiting for the big move. Where is it? You were very vocal in the game threads about not running it back.

I dont think the gap got that much bigger, Holiday to Lillard is a jump offensively but defensively they hurt themselves big time..

They will get Mitchell or Embiid, Giannis was always the pipedream...I want the big star but this team is still top 5 in the east
Portland got Holiday right?
Stu11 : 9/27/2023 2:36 pm : link
if they were into moving him I'd definitely check in to it if I were the Knicks. I know we have Brunson now but nether are classic ball dominant PG's and I think they could play next to each other.

Woj already said they are engaged with teams on flipping Holiday
Bucks would do anything to keep Giannis
larryflower37 : 9/27/2023 2:38 pm : link
Happy. Dame makes them the favorite in the East as much as I like the kids and the way the Knicks are building they're never going to win a championship unless they grab some Stars.
It's frustrating knowing every year there between the 6th and the 10th best team in the east. With zero chance at a championship

You think he and Brunson could fit next to each other or am I crazy? Man I'd love to have his D, toughness and clutch shooting on this team. I've always loved him.

I'm sure they'll want picks and one of our young guys. I wouldn't give up a superstar package, but I'd give up some picks and a young guy like a Grimes or maybe even IQ.

Not top 5 they at best are 5th and that's their ceiling.
Brooklyn, ATL and Miami could finish ahead of them.
Id give up Iq for Holiday

Booklyn? Stop, Atlanta? no chance, Miami got a lot worse..

Is Cleveland really better than the Knicks? Sixers eithout Harden? Celtics who the Knicks beat 3 times better without their best defender?

You did this last year saying Knicks are not a good team and would be in the play in
I think if Ben Simmons can come back and give the Nets something
Essex : 9/27/2023 2:52 pm : link
I don't think it is out of the ballfield to say the Nets could have a better record than the Knicks. I agree Miami is on the downside, but it is still a tough team. Atlanta I am not sure about. Anyway, barring an injury, the Knicks are not close to Milwaukee.
wow good deal by portland
Eric on Li : 9/27/2023 2:55 pm : link
ayton fits there and they got rid of nurkic, presumably will get some picks for Jrue from a contender. snatched victory from jaws of defeat.

nice move by milwaukee too. nice boost to their chances while maybe giving giannis a reason to stick around.

The Knicks should be all over the blazers trying to get Holiday.
So basically your saying none of the young players

are going to improve?

The addition of Hart for the entire year is not going to make thwir record better?

Divencenzo who is a better player than Toppin wont improve the team?

Brunson cant play even better? Rj who had a shit season cant play a little better?

Not what I'm saying they can't approve enough to get over the hump of the top four or five teams in the east.
So you are not competing for a ring.
Honestly,
HoodieGelo : 9/27/2023 3:05 pm : link
all things considered this is a great trade for all parties. Giannis gets his superstar and become instant favorites in the East, the suns dump Ayton to make their superstars happy, and the Blazers who had no leverage got a really nice package. I love Jrue and those picks will be at the tail-end of Giannis' career.

The only loser in this trade is the Sixers. There is now no superstar left and they are stuck with Harden unless they unload him for picks/worse talent both of which hurt their chances at a championship.

I don't want the Knicks to go after Harden. The only option I could honestly see would be the Heat but that's a huge red flag. Harden loves partying and Miami obviously has a huge party scene. I don't see him getting along with Jimmy Butler and Pat Riley is too old-school for a drama queen like that.

They finished top 5 last year and after starting 10-13 they had atop 5 record in the entire NBA
The biggest loser in this
nygiants16 : 9/27/2023 3:10 pm : link
is the Heat, they let Vincent and Struss walk to save money thinking they were getting Lillard and then they played it cocky rather than just getting Lillard and tried to lowball the Blazers..

They are now stuck with no depth and Lowry as their starting PG
Holiday
Professor Falken : 9/27/2023 3:11 pm : link
is 33 years old and signed for this year and next. Not sure I would part with IQ or Grimes for that.
have to think Heat are going to go for Jrue
Eric on Li : 9/27/2023 3:15 pm : link
Toronto would also make a lot of sense for him to replace FVV, though POR will probably insist on OG to match salary so not sure Toronto goes in that direction.

assuming POR gets 2 or more FRPs back for Jrue now they have done as well as anyone could have expected.

1 unprotected pick and 2 unprotected swaps already in the bank plus Ayton is a pretty good start.
Let’s see if the media treats the Heat
bceagle05 : 9/27/2023 3:18 pm : link
the way they treated the Knicks for slow playing the Mitchell trade last year.

if they dont get Jrue they 100% screwed the pooch and possibly to the point jimmy butler says something publicly.

have to think the holiday bidding price starts with the heat 2 unprotect FRP's, swaps, and lowry's expiring. i think they'd also need to include caleb martin for salary match. doubt portland can get jaquez or jovic on top of that but maybe?

for dame this seems like an infinitely better landing spot. miami would have had to grind like crazy to win a championship with him and butler at 33/34 and dame has never been a defender.

with giannis, middleton, lopez, lillard that's a much better group and maybe even title favorite. definitely the 1 seed in east.
