It’s not a big enough part of his game to be a good fit without Randle or RJ being flipped for another 4.
Look at how many catch and shoot attempts RJ and Grimes have. The offense would be too clunky with Jrue, Hart, Randle, Mitch which would be your likely closing 5.
He literally played off Giannis...
You also realoze you could put the ball in his hands and have Brunson move off the ball as well?? He was pretty good on catch and shoot as well..
Randle proved last year he can play off the ball, he shot more 3s and adjusted to playing next to Brunson..
Mitch is a lob threat and Hart can play off anyone because he moves so much on offense
3s from brook Lopez and 3.6 from Bobby Portis up front that’s why it worked off of Giannis (which playing off Giannis is being overvalued here). The Knicks don’t get that from their bigs.
33 yr guard that doesn't win you a championship this year.
He would put a top 5 team over the top for 1 year, he doesn't do that for the Knicks, we give up valuable assets we can use in a deal for someone who is a better fit and will be with the team for more than 1 year.
It sounds like Portland wanted nothing to do with them and Miami has earned the benefit of the doubt. But it's interesting they aren't getting killed for missing out on Lillard like the Knicks were for Mitchell.
RE: Why would you compete for an expiring contract

To become a much better team? He can also sign an extension.
And who is the "next guy" that is a better fit? How many more seasons are the Knicks waiting for this mystery superstar?

This is one thing about the NBA that baffles me: how the draft is so devalued vs. the NFL even amongst fans. I get that there are fewer "sure things," in the NBA draft, but I also see a similar distribution of surprise contributors, starters, and even stars after those first few lottery picks. But sitting tight, drafting the best player available every year, and seeing what happens is rarely looked at as the best road to a championship.

This x1000. What is it with the "we're not 1 player away" crap? This team was a made shot or 2 from forcing a game 7 at home to play for the ECF. We add a guy like Jrue along with having added DD this off season this team can go toe to toe with any team in the East besides maybe Milwaukee. Who's to say it's the last move either? We'd still have pieces to make another big move down the road. Why the hell sit around and watch Boston or Philly grab him and kick our ass for the 30th year in a row. Let's join the battle here.

They don’t want to
