Giants vs Seahawks

Hilary : 9/29/2023 11:30 am
Giants scoring 14 ppg giving up 32
Hawks scoring 29 ppg giving up 29

Hawks giving up only 79 yards per game on the ground over 300 in the air.

Geno completing 78% of his passes.

Giant hope is to give DJ adequate protection to take advantage of Seahawk vulnerability to the pass.

My heart is with the giants but my wager with the hawks
week 4 - ( New Window )
You have to take into account
Crazed Dogs : 9/29/2023 11:34 am : link
that the Giants have played arguably the two best teams in the NFC. I think the Giants should be able to put some points on the board this week. The question in my mind will the defense get better results.
The way i saw this season going
cjac : 9/29/2023 11:52 am : link
at this moment the defense has been a major disappointment.

i envisioned the offense struggling at points, but the defense has been horrendous.
I have been a Giants fan since 1955 and have always beleived the

Giants would win every game they played, man, there were some years of really terrible football! To me it seems this current version doesn't have the passion, desire, or heart of previous teams. Can they beat the Seachickens, sure, but will they show up and play lights out and get on a roll, well, we shall see. Don't forget they are on national tv and have been totally embarrassed in those games. My heart says Giants 31 Seachcikens 13, my brains says Seachcikens34 Giants 9.
I have no sense
46and2Blue : 9/29/2023 12:07 pm : link
for this team. Right now they seems like group of underachieving overpaid bums. I don't trust them to beat the seahawks. Can they? Will I be rooting for them? Absolutely! But do you solve protecting the QB and tackling in 11 days...we shall see.
If Giants don’t get a pass rush
joeinpa : 9/29/2023 12:11 pm : link
They will have to score a lot of points to win

Guess McAdoo wasn’t all wrong about Geno
Stats without context are useless
PatersonPlank : 9/29/2023 12:21 pm : link
You don't think our stats would look completely different if we played the Rams, Panthers, and Lions like Seattle has?
Instead we have played arguably the 2 of the top 4 teams in football
competition
Hilary : 9/29/2023 12:31 pm : link
The Lions will be a division champ. They beat the KC.
The Rams with a healthy Stafford a a formidable team

He started Geno against a bad Raiders team (and really bad defense) and not only lost and turned it over more than once. He is doing good but he also has two Pro Bowlers to throw to.
This Seahawks offense
mittenedman : 9/29/2023 1:28 pm : link
has really good talent.

The Giants pumped up their skill group all offseason and it looks a bit better, but look at what the Hawks have:

RB - Kenneth Walker and a big 240# hammer at #2 in Charbonnet

WR - Metcalf/Lockett/JSN

TE - Fant (who is putting it all together so far this year)/Parkinson (solid 6'7")/Dissley (good blocker)

-----

That's a big time NFL offense. Their OL is their weak point but they are loaded at the skill positions and presend a tough all-around challenge.
BTW
mittenedman : 9/29/2023 1:30 pm : link
The Seahawks have barely used JSN this year because they're using so many multi-TE packages (to protect their OL).

It will be interesting to see if this is the week they open up their offense a little with 13 personnel.
I would rather they zero
Thegratefulhead : 9/29/2023 1:43 pm : link
Every play rather than get their balls slowly crushed.

I would rather late hits on the QB vs PI.

Every hit matters.

Let slip the dogs of war WINK!!!

Let them at least lose like men if they are going to lose.

They might surprise you.

It is hard to be a bully backing up.

Considering our opponents and injuries
HBart : 9/29/2023 1:43 pm : link
The offensive comparison numbers are surprisingly decent.
They were non-competitive
Dave on the UWS : 9/29/2023 2:07 pm : link
against Seattle last year.
What's changed since then? Well, the defense has gone from poor to atrocious. The offense has been (except for a half), non functional.
What would lead anyone to believe that we can beat the Seahawks? and we are likely to get our doors blown off against both Miami and Buffalo.
That will make the record 1-5 and 4 blow out losses in 6 games. That would slot them in as the worst team in football.
The media will have a field day. I don't see this playing out any other way at this point.
Initially positive
Spider43 : 9/29/2023 2:30 pm : link
I've turned negative this week. Seahawks 27, Giants, 20. I just hope they keep it that close.

Would you take Geno over Jones?

I was at that game, they definitely pump in the noise. Both lines were late and soft getting off the ball. The were afraid of offsides and false starts. They bullied us because of it.

Or Mahomes... ;)
Seahawks got trounced Week 1 at home by the Rams
shyster : 9/29/2023 4:59 pm : link
not just beat, trounced. Total yards: Rams 426, Seahawks 180. And these aren't the Super Bowl Rams, either.

Seahawks bounced back with a big win in Detroit, then had a fight to get a W over a not very good Panthers team, with the home crowd giving them the advantage, causing eight false starts by Carolina.

Not easy to figure, but that Week 1 result sticks. Any team that can lose that badly is a team NYG can beat.

Anthony Thomas and Saquon Barkley to really compete....
But I think if AT is a go we stand a chance on Monday Night,if not,say good night Gracie

He was only going to play Smith for one game, on the road against the Raiders. Then Webb was going to play beginning the next game because it was a home game. They wanted to see whether the rookie had a future.

If AT is healthy, that's more significant than Barkley's availability.

The path to victory against Seattle is through the friendly skies. There are a lot a plays available against their D.

And let's be honest, Geno is going to be feeling pressure, too. It's not like he's spent any time in the prime time slot. I think he's just as much of a wild card as Jones.

13 personnel is a 3 TE set, my man. I think you mean 11 personnel. The first number refers to the number of "RBs" in the backfield oand the 2nd number refers to the number of TEs.

WRs are left out, but can always be calculated by subtracting the sum of the RBs, TEs, OL, and QB from 11. So in 13 personnel, for example, there would be just one WR.
27-21 Giants

Heard it here first.
Puzzlingly the betting line has gone back to Seahawks -1.5.
cosmicj : 9/30/2023 10:21 am : link
The line last week stood at Sea -1.5 then shifted early this week to Giants -1.5 and now is back to where it began. I’m using the betting aggregation site Vegas insider.

That’s way too big a swing to be just noise. Metcalf is now practicing and the Seahawks injury list was much shorter Friday. (Love has a hamstring issue, btw.) The betting line may have shifted in favor of NYG because of a long list of Seattle questionables and, now that Seattle will be playing Monday closer to full strength, the betting line has gone back to favoring them, viewing them as a better team.

Old money coming in on the NY team....
Also AT being likely out is another possible explanation.
One Seattle player to be aware of is Boye Mafe,
cosmicj : 9/30/2023 10:25 am : link
A second year edge who seems to be emerging. Mafe was not exactly on my radar screen and his stats don’t jump out at you but I saw an advanced stats table on pass rushing showing he was performing at a high level so far this season.
Old money coming in is a description
cosmicj : 9/30/2023 10:26 am : link
Not an explanation. I agree that Thomas’ availability will be a factor but I think it looked like Metcalf wouldn’t play a couple of days ago and that’s been a big story.

Can't it be both an explanation and a description????
Sure.
cosmicj : 9/30/2023 12:59 pm : link
So why is the old money coming in? It is to be the injury status of various players, I think.
