I'm still hopeful for Neal, and this is probably a minor setback for AT, but having a good pass protector on the right side (even if "out of position") AND insurance for AT if he can't beat the injury bug would have been preferrable to me.
it's just a rest day so he's ready for Monday, but what do I know. Hopeless optimist here.

Touche. Funny enough I created this username amongst all the hysteria around OBJ's antics following the infamous boat trip and GB game. Fun times. I miss the days of when we could complain about a player being too passionate.

Or maybe it was the Carolina game where he tried to decapitate Norman.
At this point, that should be the default scenario, unless there's additional info. I know that's not as much fun as automatically assuming the worst and condemning the staff.
yes, but i don't think i have ever seen a player who has come off injury go from LP to DNP to FP to playing. I am sure it has happened, but usually when you go backwards, it is a bad sign.
A rest day on the second practice day is common for veteran players who have been playing--not for players trying to get back to playing.

I agree it's not positive, but it wouldn't be a vet rest day. It would be an injury rest day after his first practice in 2 weeks. Most likely he's not ready to go, but possible it just makes more sense to rest his hammy a couple more days than practice. If there's a guy who could go Monday after just a walkthrough tomorrow it's Thomas.
And what a terrible decision it was in the first place leaving him in there against Dallas.
So jump the gun? Why?
Because of the risk.
1) He's the only one not practicing today. Not a good sign.
2) Art Stapleton
3m
Andrew Thomas will stay inside for treatment on his hamstring and will not practice today, per Brian Daboll.
Won’t say a setback, but Thomas did not look entirely comfortable yesterday. #NYGiants

I'm not optimistic on Williams but he did say if he was a skill player his injury would be an issue but in his role he could wrap it up and go. FWIW.
and beyond. He is by far our best OL and can shut down a pass rusher by himself whereas Neal occasionally needs help. It changes everything if he can't go and go effectively.
We are so screwed if he's going to be gone for 7-8 weeks altogether
in many ways this year. The above mentioned stupidity.
The team clearly NOT being ready to start the year. Usage of personnel. Musical chairs at the guard position in training camp. Way too many ill advised decisions this year. If it was his first year, we would be screaming about it. He bought some good will and time from last year's unexpected success.
In my book, the jury is still VERY out.

Don’t think he’s gonna play either. If he does he might actually be a liability.
Would anyone be surprised if the sports science folks recommended he get a rest day?
Would anyone be surprised if that’s the spoonfed excuse Daboll will serve up for public mass consumption?
If anyone misses time now, it was a pre-planned sports science strategy. That’s Daboll.
FFS man. You clowns are unbelievable. Coach of the year. Led the team to the playoffs in his first season. Won a road playoff game, which they haven’t done in forever.
Fast forward THREE games into the very next season and all you morons have decided he’s Joe Judge and can’t get out of his own way. Such a disgraceful fan base. Daboll would have another head coaching job in 5 seconds if he were let go. This sudden turn on him from the fans is embarrassing
judging by how they came out they obviously didn't get enough playing time in the preseason and needed the reps. Injuries suck but they do happen, running your whole preseason around worrying about injuries seem to be a sure way to start off slow.
But I do question how ready the team was for the first half of the Arizona game.
I do believe there are some growing pains involved in becoming a great Head Coach in this league.
We have played 2 Playoff caliber teams and sleptwalked thru the first half of the other....
All that being said,AT and Saquon are our 2 best players and if they cant contribute,we simply are a lesser team

Why push it.
I hope they over draft OL next year....this OL has been Achilles heal too long

Incomprehensible, esp. in light of how the game went the first 20 minutes.
Thomas is a big dude, thickly built; the thicker the hamstring the longer (and more unpredictable) is the healing of the tear
Ezeudu can fill in again. No excuses. Win the game, because if we don't, we might be 1-5 in a few weeks.
Coming back from a hamstring early is the worst way to go. That is how you lose players for the year.
I think it was the interception return in the first quarter.
I think it was initially the FG block, then it was worsened by the INT return. What a horrendous sequence.
You people need to chill out.

The Jones decision was puzzling and I think bad (though I know had be pulled Jones earlier he'd be getting flack for giving up).
So Dabs isn't perfect. In retrospect he and the team are being judged for Dallas, not since.
