Perfect spot to get Sterling Shepard in the game

GoBigBlue16to56 : 9/30/2023 7:51 pm
What better game to get cagey old veteran Sterling Shepard (78 games - 363 catches- 22 TD- 4042 yards) involved going up against cagey old coach Pete “Pumped and Jacked” Carroll who according to all the experts loves to play all those soft zones. Shep’s specialty is finding open holes in zones so why not? What do you think? We can’t go 40-20 in times of possession again like in Frisco.
Don't see it

I think it's a perfect game for a lot of 1-2 personnel with expanded WR roles for Robinson and Hyatt. I don't see what advantage Shepard provides over any of the younger guys.

Andy Dalton passed for 361 yards last week vs. the Seahawks with 9 different players catching the ball. Sounds like an experienced sure-handed vet like Shep could help to me.

If Shepard didn't provide a noticeable advantage, why did the Giants keep him?

If the Giants cut him no one would sign him.

Maybe so but why not use his experience and guts to beat the Seahawks.

The Seahawks already have 2 corners declared out and another is doubtful. Sounds like we should throw a lot of 3 and/or 4 receiver sets at them if our Oline can hold up.
Shep would be good

likely that we'll see Schoen's draft picks - Wan'Dale and Jalin - be the difference.

our three lowest utilized receivers have the highest first downs to snap count percentages

Wan'Dale Robinson
snap Pct 5.85%
1d/snap 9.09%

Sterling Shepard
snap Pct 13.83%
1d/snap 3.85%

Jalin Hyatt
snap Pct 29.26%
1d/snap 3.64%

highest snap counts and 1d/snaps
Parris Campbell 0.00%
Isaiah Hodgins 2.38%
Darius Slayton 3.45%

Robinson has a 36% receptions/snap count. All other receivers are in single digits.
Yeah, I love Shep and would love for it to be true...

But I think he's on the team because of his attitude leadership and future potential with a role in the organization (coaching, admin, Jesse Armstead replacement). Again, love this guy and his team attitude and hope it happens but I think he is here for a future role in the organization. Once a Giant!

Depth. We're allowed to have some depth in at least one position.
