What do we make of him? Looked excellent against what we think is a strong Steelers defense. Looked excellent last week as well. The Texans don't have close to a good roster and definitely not a strong OL.
but he has looked very good the past two games. If he keeps this up the Texans will be very happy about their future. If Houston missed on this pick it could haunt them for a long time as they traded away a 2024 1st round pick that could have been a top 2 pick landing them either Williams or Maye.
Real. Looking like the cream of last year's crop. I never bought into Young, I thought he was overrated. But to be honest, I didn't like Stroud either. Kid's proving a lot of people wrong.
Demeco Ryans in this, too. His name has been out there in the football ether as the coach who might just have the goods. So far, that might just be right...
And, oh btw, he Ryans hired Bobby Slowik as the OC. Another coach off the Shanahan tree. Hmmmmm.
you literally just said 3 games is no sample size and now your posting this?
My inclination is if good things happen youll jump on any sample size if bad things happen for the Giants youll mock those who jumpp to conclusions. I know this thread doesnt relate to the Giants but lets be even handed here no?

I don't know how you can conclude the Giants are one of the worst teams in the NFL when they lost to Dallas & SF. They beat Arizona. Let's see how they look tomorrow night.

Kirwan was saying last week, although it’s early, Stroud is one of the league leading passers. I think he said he’s number 4 as of last week. I’d say that’s pretty good for a rookie on a shit team too boot.
Panthers made a big mistake trading all that capital for Bryce Young. I think Young will br solid, but not worth the trade while Stroud would have been worth it and will be the best of the bunch and a great qb
Remember this kid picked apart the vaunted UGA defense in the playoff last year. Seems like the only criticism was that he didn’t do great on some meaningless tests.
If you could ignore which program Stroud and Young played under,
Bryce Young is a very shaky dink and dunk guy so far. Should not be playing . Still very early of course.
The Panthers scored the most points of the season (27) at Seattle when Dalton was the starter.
The Panthers had a 99 yard pick six yesterday for their only TD.
Stroud looks much farther along than Young. He had a brutal fumble that Minnesota ran back for a TD while the Panthers were in Vikings territory and that flipped all of the momentum in the game.
houston's offensive coordinator bobby slowik came from SF - not unlike 2 of this year's other offensive success stories (miami, sf). he started in SF the same year as Demeco ryans.
another interesting stop on bobby slowik's journey to offensive coordinator? from 2014 to 2016 he worked at PFF as an analyst. in 2017 he went to SF and his first job on the offensive side of the ball was 2019 (after working on the defensive side with ryans for 2 years). In 2021 he became their passing game coordinator.
his dad was a 20 year head coach in the CFL. he played WR at michigan tech from 2005-2009 before getting his first job in the video room for redskins in 2010. quite a rise over the last decade.
if he keeps things going in houston he is going to be a name to remember on the head coaching interview circuit in january.

didn't follow the whole thread but "the next mike mcdaniels" is a phrase we will probably hear from the teams looking for coaches a lot next december/january around the nfl.

Yeah, the interest in the Shanahan/McVay coaching tree is very robust right now...

in a league where quality offensive line play is dying their system is producing offenses that function with the least time to throw even without elite qbs. both offenses have playmakers and quality OL too, but the system seems to be thriving in the regular season with the new rules.

It seems like it's everything - their system, their ability to identify the talent and their ability to develop their talent.
I think we've had this conversation before, but I am rooting hard for the Rams this season. They are so interesting with where they are with their roster and McVay's ability to make that roster competitive.

agreed. 2-2 after 4 weeks, wins over Seattle and now Indy on the road, 1 score losses to SF and Cincy.
unbelievable start for a team thought to be tanking and with 3/4 games so far scheduled w/ playoff teams a year ago.
with almost all unknown skill players they have scored 29+ points in their 2 wins both on the road against reasonably decent defenses (SEA, IND).
Me too

+1
I agree with this totally. I think what hurt Stroud was how the previous two Ohio State quarterbacks played in the NFL. Totally unfair to Stroud.
Their OL has looked miles better than our OL.
Then again, that's a very low bar...
