Here we go a start of a 5 games in 7 nights road trip.
This is a tough match up on a home/away back to back
Obviously this would be a big win early in the year.
... the Knicks shot well from 3. And got a fair amount of offensive rebounds.
Boston got the better of them regardless.
The Celtics are just a tough match-up for the Knicks... they got longer defenders to deter Brunson a little, they got a number of bodies to effectively slow down Julius Randle, and Porzingis brings Mitchell Robinson way out of his comfort zone on defense.

In the first game Knicks shot well from 3 but Brunson and Randle played absolutely terrible..
Last nights game no Rj Barrett really hurt them, but Randle and Brunaon played well and both scored effeciently..Quick had abad game off the bench and the Knicks lacked that 3rd scorer..
In the end Boston is a better team but Knicks can beat them and play with them, i didnt come away last night thinking OMG knicks have no chance

On any given night in the regular season in the NBA... any team has a chance against any other team.
But you can generally tell who is a real contender and who isn't.

Agreed to a point, i dont think in the Knicks case its your typical any given night, i dont think the Knicks are true contenders but i also dont think they are far off
good/bad game from Randle. Nice looking stats in the box score but he ruined multiple possessions and was caught napping a few times which led to open threes for Boston.
Thibs' rotation without RJ was....curious.
Refs were not why we lost but I feel like they're getting worse. My favorite sequence was when Randle clearly gets hacked while on the baseline and the ball goes out off of him. Not only does the ref miss the hack, he says it's Celtics ball. WTF are they watching?
Who does the Celtics broadcast and is on NBA radio in the morning was talking how impressed he was with how the Knicks play and felt they were for real.
Also commented on how outrageous RJ statline is right now and he was missed last night.
They both commented that they thought it was ridiculous that Grimes was only 6.5 shot attempts a game and only scored double digits 3 times out of 10 games. You need to get more production out of your 2 guard
supposed to give us more production when most of his minutes come with 3 guys who put up a lot of shots. And it's not like he's shown much as a creator (as opposed to IQ). For now, he's filling a needed role with the starters. Ideally you could play Hart more with that group but his jumper is too inconsistent and the spacing would be horrible.

I listen to them all the time, Scali has always loved Grimes. Frank asked him at one point who the Knicks would usually have guard Tatum and Scal felt RJ probably did it best due to his physicality and strength. Honestly I thought they did as well as you could do on him. Tatum when he shoots the way he did in the 2nd half last night is simply impossible to guard. Sort of like LeBron in his prime.
Shams says there’s “openness” on both sides for a trade.
I love Lavine, i wouldnt trade Rj for him, but he is a hell of a talent, all star and can add a dynamic to this team they dont have and still have room to do more if needed
Quentin Grimes has not made a free throw this season
in 243 minutes on the court. He has only attempted one, when he failed to convert a four point play in the 4Q on opening night.
It's not what you want but I wouldn't say it's alarming (yet). Hart has only 7 FT attempts in 40+ more minutes. And Grimes has taken 64 shots this year - 55 of which were 3 pt attempts.
Randle, Fournier, Grimes and maybe a protected 1st or 2 for Lavine and Pat Williams
Sign me up!
I think that trade makes us a much better team overall and would improve the Bulls also.
I just don't trust Williams but we could make do at the 4
Trading Grimes and Randle for Lavine and Williams does not
I disagree I think spacing and ball movement would improve considerably.
You are replacing Randle's scoring with Lavine and his splits are considerably better.
You lose rebounding is the only gap but Williams gives you spacing and makes up the 7 shots Grimes is taking a game.

Williams does not provide more spacing than Randle or Grimes. Would it improve ball movement? Maybe? I don't see any evidence that Lavine is less of a ball hog than Randle. Grimes is a very good shooter and is our best on ball defender. Williams is not particularly good at anything and he's a FA after the year. Are we really gonna extend him? I'd be interested in him as a backup for Randle and that is all.
The guy I'd rather get is Caruso, if the Bulls blow it up. I'd take Lavine if the cost isn't too bad. No RJ, No Randle for Lavine. Other options? ok.
Knicks showed interest last year and in the offseason

ESPN Malika Andrews: “Do you think the Knicks need to trade Julius Randle…?”
Scott Perry: “I do not think the Knicks need to trade Julius Randle at this juncture. Look, nobody's on the horizon to me that's better than this young man. What I know about Julius, he's a tremendously hard worker, he wants to win, he competes; and in the day and age of load management, this guy wants to play every single game. And that counts for something. And, that needs to be highly valued. I'm sure that's still valued within the Knicks organization. So no, Julius Randle needs to be a Knick.
You add to him with all the other guys that are there and then take your shot and see what you have at that point and see if that's good enough to get you a deep run or even to the Conference Finals or Finals.”
Andrews: “Well, Conference Finals would, — I know, I know, Knicks fans are hard to please — but Conference Finals, considering how hard a time they have had getting there in the past, I think that that would be a success for them. Plus it would be difficult to trade Julius with that $7.5 million trade kicker in there.“
Didn't think he had it in him, but he looks good so far, though in a very small sample. Hope it continues - it's clearly the best ball of his career thus far.
is really hard without Randle or RJ. That contract is a real negative asset. Without RJ or Randle, you'll have to add Ihart, DDV, or Josh Hart to fill in with Fournier and the latter two can't be traded for another month.

The front office is fine trading Randle, Dolan needs it to be a slam dunk. The trade rumors about CAA affiliated players is what led to Randle switching his agent
When the game gets tight their ball movement stops and they go hero ball and that doesnt work..
Kawhi seems to be the one who is taking a step back and that is not what you want, the other 3 should be figuring out how to play around Kawhi not the other way around

That trade was insane to do at the time and now it looks even worse watching Harden play there.
MSG announces Mark Jackson will *not* be covering @knicks games this season. Leon Rose decided Jackson would not be allowed on the team plane #Knicks
What is that all about?
Erman is now with the Knicks, he was fired for taping Mark Jackson and players when he was with GS. Leon Rose decided he didn't want Jackson on the team plan with Erman as the Knicks others announcers are.
calm at MSG we still get stuff like this, lol. And whatever happened to that lawsuit vs. the Raptors? Regardless, not sad that Jackson won't be calling games. But Wally is not very good either. Hopefully they eventually come up with a solid replacement for Clyde.

Id like to see Hahn do more games
eh - he's too much of a homer. I'd actually prefer Wally. It's funny since most hometown broadcasts have blatant homers doing the calls, but I guess we've been conditioned otherwise. Maybe they try to get JJ Reddick at some point?

Regroup and beat the hawks on Wednesday.
Win the next 3

Bulls get expirings, picks, etc.
My concern on RJ is that migraines = Knee issues. The Knicks are not exactly open on injuries.

Jackson later called Erman’s actions “inexcusable.” Jackson was fired by Golden State later that year.

Why would they cover up the knee injury when they were truthful about it a week ago?
