Obviously this season is done except for some evaluation. Before focusing on free agency, and the draft, I'd be curious of how people see the current roster, and who remains after this off-season. I know things are really really shitty now, but I still see much more talent on this team, the disaster that it is, than on say the '21 team, or even the '19 team.

So everyone likes to talk about all the free agents we have, the 26 free agents. But most of those free agents, and polayers that we will likely cut are really not starters. Sure there are *big* question marks at major positions, like QB, RB1, WR1, LG, RG, RT, DT2, ED2, FS, CB2, and we can probably fill only a handful of those through the draft. But unlike 2019 and 2021, we have some really good players at some of those core positions, and of those really good players, all of them are 25 and under. We should be able to keep Simmons, Pugh, McKinney, and even Barkley without breaking the bank, and with Jones and his salary probably coming off the books in 2025, and with a top 5 pick in '24, the number of starters, young starters, and the positions we need drop down to really 2 guards, an Edge, a WR1, and possibly a rtight tackle. With 2 drafts, and 2 free agency periods, no major free agents to sign other than McKinney (who can be replaced with a different safety, like an Antoine Winfield Jr.) and Barkley, and probably a guard. Over a $100 million in cap space in '25. I think we can probably have a competitive team next year, and an ascending team in '25. It looks dim now, but I still feel better about the direction than after '19 and '21, which only had maybe 1 core player in '19 (Dex Lawrence, since we let Dalvin Tomlinson go after '19 with only 6 players left from that roster, and Barkley, Lawerence, and Thomas after '21, of which there are only 18 players, many of whom are just special teams players)
In all likelihood, we'll have at least 33 players returning.
Pear, Glowinski, Pugh, Brown, Breida, and McKinney are gone IMO. Brightwell probably is as well.
Wink won’t be back . The next projection should be the members of the coaching staff who will return . At least 3 guys gone , in my opinion .
Thing is Ward is a great depth role player and leader in locker room , problem is he has been a starter for most the year with injuries. Prefect guy to fill out the bottom of the roster at vet min. Which is what he is making.
I would McKinney as good as gone. I don't see a scenario where Schoen will commit a multi-year contract to him at that position.
Further, if Barkley is signed, it's even more of a lock that McKinney is gone.
The draft (a high 1st and 2-2nd)and FAing can improve team.
