David Tepper didn't want him when most of the Panthers organization did (GM, Josh McNown, etc).

I know that Young beat him head to head, but Stroud is clearly the superior QB.

It will depend on where Houston ends up

But if the Texans can overtake the Jags in the standings, then we're talking. I think Mahomes and Hurts are ahead because of where their teams stand. I don't think MVP is all about stats, there's the Offensive Player of the Year for that.

Hill and McCaffrey and possibly Myles Garrett have been the best players in football.

it would be at the level of the best single seasons by Pat Mahomes and Brett Favre. We are in rarified air here. The MVP should absolutely be considered.

I'm no pro obviously but the idea that Young was the consensus best prospect last year never sat well with me. It's still early to call him a bust, but it felt like those "most pro ready" evals on a guy who is 5'11 and doesn't have a mega arm are code for "low ceiling."

And that is commendable for a rookie, even as high as a pick as he was.

He is not in the MVP conversation though as there are a ton of veterans having strong years.

And Young isn't a bust because Stroud is playing better in the middle of November of year one of their respective careers.

I hate this. QBs don't beat each other head to head. QBs face defenses, not each other.

If they simply remain in the playoff hunt, then still a consideration, but not a serious one. Either way, I don't think there is a bigger or better surprise than the season he is having.
