Max Duggan was the starting QB at TCU for 4 years.
In his senior year he completed 239 of 368 (64.9%) passes for 3,321 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions. He led the Horned Frogs to an undefeated season and made the College Football Playoff.
As a Michigan alum, I watched in horror as he put up 51 points on a pretty good Michigan defense in the playoff semis. He looked like a complete QB. Good arm strength, good vision, precision passes, good movement in the pocket, and a surprising ability to make yards with his feet.
Duggan went on to win the Davey O’Brien Award, given to the best QB in college football, and I was hoping we might draft him. Sy had him ranked as the #15 QB in the country.
The Chargers took him in the 7th round, and he's been on their practice squad all season.
He's available, he's cheap, and I have to believe his upside is higher than DeVito's. Since our season is over, and the next two months are an extended pre-season for next year, why not sign him and put Barkley on the practice squad?
If that happens, you can promote Barkley back to the active roster and move DeVito or Duggan to the PS.
Eason has been cut by 5 NFL teams already. I'd rather try a fresh prospect.

Eason, with NFL arm strength, on the ps now. Let's see him first

How many teams let go of Joshua Dobbs?

He has been on 7 teams
So he doesn't have what it takes to play in New York. Do I have that right?
SirLoinOfBeef beat us both to it.
Good movie.
They wouldn't have to drop Eason. And the league has already seen some of him. Not sure Duggan offers much, but if they did it and like what he brings maybe you don't even consider two QBs in the draft, which I don't think they would do. But they then could go into next summer with Jones, draft pick, DeVito and Duggan. That gives you options.

If DeVito goes out at least Barkley has been with Daboll so understands the terminology. If you sign Duggan and he does not get it quickly you have burned the PS call ups for Barkley.

You can't move Duggan to the PS unless he clears waivers. But you could elevate Eason from the PS three times and make Duggan inactive. Basically the idea is you'd be stashing a guy on the 53 for the future.
Nice Eric I was thinking of that movie the first time I heard his name. It was on the pay channels when I first got cable in 1984. You are the first I have seen make the connection.
Better option than DeVito? Worth a shot!!!!
