after death in their teens and 20s.
Obviously a danger to the future of the sport
Aide from that, it also prompts a question for research: If about 40% of former youth-football players were diagnosed with CTE, why did that 40% develop it and why didn't the other 60%? If there's a way to prevent CTE, the key may be in why some people develop it and others don't. Even if there's no magic bullet to stop it, maybe there'll be a test to determine if some people are at higher risk.
They Started Playing Football as Young as 6. They Died in Their Teens and Twenties With C.T.E. - (

You're in denial if you think football isn't a major contributing factor to CTE.

look at this is look at EVERYONE- regardless of sport playing and see who has CTE. I suspect there is far more at play here than just contact sports..

And look forward to the day of congressional hearings tugging on people's heartstrings and rule the tackle football and the NFL will be illegal in the United States. If you think I'm exaggerating, then you are not paying attention.
Who knows, maybe tackling in youth sports will get abolished. Interesting times.
But a lot of money is going to go into figuring out how to protect young football players from brain damage.
Again: Not everyone who plays tackle football gets CTE. Why not? Figure that out and maybe the issue goes away.
If it turns out that everyone who plays tackle football suffers CTE eventually, then there really could be a push to ban the game as it's currently played. I think the bigger danger to the sport is that eventually there will be insurance claims against schools and youth leagues. Insurance companies could stop insuring youth, high school and college football. Taxpayer-funded, government insurance will be a no-brainer in some places, but not all. It could turn into a mess. None of this is imminent, but that shift could come very abruptly.

I disagree, this poster made a very valid point. Unless all brains, from all sports, non sports etc are examined it is really easy to spin a narrative about a very non-understood injury.
Football surely causes more diagnosed concussion chances (particularly more severe and life altering one’s based on documented cases). But not enough research yet on the whole CTE causes. Also lesser Mainstream America sports like Rugby, lacrosse, hockey, gymnastics, wrestling need to be examined comparatively.

I think the game as it is now is unsustainable. Players are too big, too fast, and too strong. Every week there is another team losing players and there's not enough quality backups available.
They're going to have to expand rosters and change the rules more.

The game is unsustainable because it sucks today because there are too many rules. They are fining people for tackling or carrying the football with too much intensity.
And i do have my doubts on CTE’s official diagnosis. Per the poster above it has become a boogeyman. Simple solution - use nfls modern rules at lower levels but under no circumstance should profootball continues to be played like it is today. It really is no longer watchable/respectable.
