Both teams on a back to back.
Knicks looking for their 3rd straight win. Hornets got crushed last night by the Bucks and have lost 3 straight.
*Barrett is game time decision - warming up now. Fournier and Grimes are out.
This is not a walk over game and the hornets always play us tough.

@StevePopper
Barrett will play tonight.

I hope he's not too rusty.
Should be IQ but probably Hart
Hornets are a joke of a franchise. Watered down league so far this year.
What happened to Fournier?

Now he’s injured? Lol.
What happened to Fournier?
Sore ankle.
Let's go knock off Minny and get home..
Grimes could learn a thing or two to get more shots in the offense
The only negative comment is this:
The "clunkiness" of the roster is the perspective from which the current roster overall, DDV included, has been questioned.
It's a cap league; you can't pay everybody and you have to make it a priority to get significant contributions from players getting rookie scale.
Knicks are running out of time on IQ and Grimes, who play the same position as DDV.
Take a look at the Nuggets contract list at Basketball Reference. They only pay 5 guys more than $5M a year. And that's a very conscious strategy.

nygiants16 : 7/2/2023 8:42 am : I think he is a very good addition to this team but there needs to be another move, can not go into this season like they did last season, the rotation was clunky and too packed and the team suffered for it for the first 23 games..

How is that a negative comment? lol, i was worried about the rotation and wondering if Thibs was going to end up going 10 players again, happy to see he didnt..
This rotation is anything but clunky..
and if you think Iq, Grimes and DDV cant all play together than i dont know what you are watching
I said a couple weeks ago DDV need to start over Grimes but only because he is a more win now player and Grimes needs to develop confidence with the 2nd unit.
McBride is the best player that doesn't get minutes it's rough.
Last bullet-
RJ again lead in +/- again and leads the team on the season. Big step for him
If you want to call me out, fine but at leaat quote my full comment not half

I do apologize. That was not all my intention. And I was about to post that I don't pretend to know what exactly was in your mind when you made the comment.
Only wanted to make the point that DDV the player has not been criticized, only the state of the roster, and the need for another move.

It's not that they can't play together, but that the cap dictates a strategy of getting bench contributions from players making rookie scale. And Knicks are running out of time to make use of Grimes as a trade asset before he would need to get paid. And they have a need to fill in the front court.
That should say "IQ and Grimes." And the cap theory of roster construction isn't mine; it's Calvin Booth's, Nuggets GM.
As for Grimes i wonder if its in his nature to be agressive like we saw from DDV tonight, if the Knicks decided to bring him off the bench to play with Quick and Rj, would he be more agressive shooting the ball??

He has shown in summer league, rookie game, etc. To have the aggression needed I think maybe playing with 2nd unit he turns into the 2nd or 3rd option..
Grimes is averaging 7 shots with the first unit but DDV took 12 shots yesterday. With Randle, Brunson, and RJ taking their normal amount of shots.
Maybe a reset for Grimes is needed.
I think he can but he takes more chances than Grimes, i think straight up 1 on 1 Grimes is better but playing passing lanes and being able to get steals DDV is better..
I don't think the gap defensively is as big as what DDV brings offensively.
