I know it doesnt matter in this crazy season...
but we signed York and we burned a roster spot for 3 weeks.
we signed a K to the active roster to not kick.
i really hope schoen learns from this disastrous offseason.

ROSTER MOVES 11/18
Activated from Practice Squad:
▪️ K Randy Bullock
▪️ TE Tyree Jackson
Dan Duggan
@DDuggan21
This is Bullock’s third and final elevation. That leaves the Giants with three options next week:
1. Sign Bullock to the active roster, cut York.
2. Sign Bullock to the active roster, keep York.
3. Don’t sign Bullock to the active roster, make York the kicker going forward.
No. 1 seems like the obvious outcome, but I’m ready for whatever twist and turns comes next in this saga.
And that’s with 7 games left.
Unbelievable.
but he is traveling so maybe he does.
we know York, Adoree, Neal are inactive for sure.
mccain might be inactive.
need 7 inactives, thats 4 above.
probably Riley, Owens, and a 4th RB and a 9th OL are the possible remaining inactives.
Also shepard we wait for every week to be inactive.
would love to see Riley, Owens, Corbin active and get snaps over a 9th OL, Jackson (RB), Shepard.
This is one of those coaching decisions that raises questions about Daboll and his staff.

York was signed for his future potential. Who would you rather have on the active roster and deactivated? I have no problem with this. You guys act like the guy in the 53rd spot would be a pro bowler if York wasn't there.
It's a different world than even 6 years ago. Eight guys not active for each game. Expanded PS, and two PS squad elevation every week. The 53rd guy on the roster is essentially a PS guy who can't be poached.
How much will we save next year if York can be our kicker instead of Gano? I think Gano has a salary of $3 million next year with a $2 million roster bonus. It's well worth the 'gamble.' In fact, it's smart.

The Special Teams Coach gotsta go.

That's guaranteed money; Giants can't avoid it by cutting Gano.
Gano has a $9m dead cap for '24. He's not getting cut.
we know that, whyd u sign him if he wasnt going to kick?

Because we needed a kicker on days notice.

Dead money means nothing- cap space does...

Gano's dead cap for 2024 ($9.7M) is more than his live cap ($7.2M). Giants would lose $2.5M in cap space by cutting him, and still have to pay another kicker. Not happening.
I tend to believe Giants were interested in York for 2023. He has a big leg and the Giants' offense often needs to be bailed out with long FGs.
They could only get a close look at him by poaching him and putting him on the active list. They evidently haven't been impressed by his accuracy/consistency. Roster positions are not at a premium right now, so all that stands to be lost is about $150k.
Exactly. It's nuts how people bitch about meaningless (actually positive) shit.
The Giants lost Gano. They tried out 3 retreads. They couldn't try out York because he's on another team's squad. They have no shortage of roster spots. They signed York. Now they get 3 weeks to evaluate a one time coveted kicker prospect while also having a proven vet who can't be poached.
After this game they decide if he's worth keeping as a current and/or future alternative since, due to Gano's injury, we now need one.
Great move. Kind of thing good management does.
