because of this fucking useless win? Nothing more exciting than drafting a WR to pair with a shitty OL that won't let him get deep and no QBs that can throw the ball deep. How many years before Marvin Harrison Jr demands a trade?
I like Daniels way better than Maye or Williams.....but I also never been in a world were you play to lose. We will best NE too next week so get used to not tanking
Barkley for a third. Prevents wins, prevents us from resigning him (another mistake we will surely make) and an additional asset to infuse this roster with talent. But of course we don't that.
I would have enjoyed that just as much if Washington scored at the end, because of the ramifications. The best outcome would be play well, with lots of young guys getting experience (Banks, Hawkins, Hyatt) but coming up short. Anyone rooting for a 4-13 or 5-12 record is delusional.
Besides, which rookie QB is going to be able to develop behind a line that gave up nine sacks and 12 tackles for loss. That's not even counting hits and hurries.
They would have needed some luck for that to happen. The NFL isn't built that way, it is hard to do. They'll have a top 5 pick and it'll be up to Schoen to maneuver the draft correctly.
next week right? If the Giants lose they will move up at least one spot. Then they have the bye and their schedule is not easy over the last 5 games.
Jay, stop making sense.
we're bad enough that we could lose during the bye week.
btw, this board is whack. the opinions go from not yet being able to evaluation Jones after 4 years in the league to knowing who these 21 year olds are coming out in the draft and if we don't get one of them we're doomed. I'm just going to enjoy each win.
yep. and we will probably be surprised by how some teams improve and some drop off in the next 7 weeks. we might even be one of them. waaay too early to worry about draft position.
If the Giants decide to draft a guy, in the top 10, you’d still have your pick of extremely good QBs, such as Daniels, Nix, Penix. If they don’t like any of those we draft a very good Olineman or WR and punt, no pun intended, to next season, with DJ or another Vet back up to start the season. I still think there’ll be a QB we can take and feel very comfortable with.
We still shouldn't fall back far enough to lose out on Daniels or McCarthy. There really isn't more than 1 other gam we could reasonably expect to have a shot at winning. That's next week.
They beat a team that's one of the few franchises that are worse than them. They beat a team that's the only team they consistently beat. They did so on the back of a good performance by a QB that likely won't be here next year and a running back that they're unlikely to resign as he himself said he has no loyalty to the Giants. If they beat a great team and it could be a building block I get it. If we had a young player go off, I get it. Beating the Commanders is as empty of a win as there is. There's really nothing positive to gain from it.
And the old tired cliche "there are no guarantees". You want what gives you the best odds. While there are no guarentees with Caleb and Maye you know there is a guarantee about, the team winning 4 games instead of two won't amount to a hill of beans anywhere other than draft position. You're comparing 0% upside of winning this game to upside that's significantly greater than 0% of losing this game and you're saying it's a good thing we won because that upside is not 100%.
Besides, if Chcago ends up with the top 2 picks Harrison Jr will be one of the two picks.
This thread reminds me of when people whined about not picking 2nd to get Chase Young. And we drafted Andrew Thomas instead
Giants were taking OL no matter what even if they got 2nd or 3rd picks that year. People can whine all they want. They were never taking Chase Young. The idea is to get players you need that are potentially elite. And when you need a QB, a higher pick helps.

praise the great almighty lord above that you have absolutely nothing to do with decision making for the team.
RE: Honest question what is there to enjoy in this win?

Tell the players there's nothing positive in their win. LOL

Quote:
EAST RUTHERFORD - To a man, the Giants would celebrate if their team ended up with Chase Young, Ohio State’s sack master.
To a man, the same players will not tank the Giants’ last two games to make sure that happens in next April’s college draft.
Assuming the Bengals select Joe Burrow, LSU’s Heisman Trophy winning quarterback, with the first pick, whoever goes second is expected to take Young.
The Giants, even after beating Miami last Sunday for their third victory, are still in the second spot. Lurking nearby are the Redskins, the Giants’ opponent Sunday, and the Dolphins.

A NJ.com article is not a source. It’s a nonsense article.
BBI pre-draft thread addressing the hypothetical of Chase Young still being available at 4. The views expressed are virtually unanimous that NYG should and would take him.
If you claim greater insight than the board, tell us why.

I was told flat out by some one who sat right next to Gettleman in front office meetings. They were taking an OL and knew it for months before season ended.
Was it Caleb Williams who refused to talk to the media last night?
Can't you enjoy a win?

At least they show some promise defensively.
This thread sucks.

Ewers and McCarthy likely coming out too. They’d have to transfer somewhere given situations developing in both those spots.

Great. Ewers and McCarthy might be available. How fortunate for NFL teams who need a QB... ;)
Jay, stop making sense.
You have the wrong take
You've made a mistake
Break out a grin
And celebrate the win.
Top 3 is likely where you need to be and that’s still right there.
This thread sucks.
LOL

The draft order doesn't solidify this weekend.

Today was a huge loss

Giants were locked in OL and never moved off it.
Giants were locked in OL and never moved off it.
That was not the talk at the time and I've cited one of many sources that would back that up. Up to you to do likewise.
