Or be a loner who sulks on the bench.
Currently 6th in sacks
larryflower37 : 11/19/2023 8:53 pm : link
2nd in the NFC a half of sack behind Hunter from Minny.
Could be a pro bowl season for the bust.
Yeah but how many weren't against Washington

he's getting better and that is very encouraging
JerrysKids : 11/19/2023 9:00 pm : link
I can see him becoming a very good edge rusher for us for many years to come. Showing a lot of growth, I would love to see him play well against better competition but he is 22 years old and future is bright for KT. I don't have a good feeling about Evan Neal.
One if the bright spots this year.
St. Jimmy : 11/19/2023 9:21 pm : link
They need him, Lawrence, and TBD in the front 7.
Hasn't this thread gone on too long

without someone cherry picking his bad plays?
Need another edge

Parsons?

Parson had 8.5 in first 10 his rookie season and 8 in first 10 his second year but he was also. 22 as a rookie and is 24 now.

In KT's defense, he doesn't get to pad his stats by going against the Giants, while other players were given this advantage.
He's barely missed on 3-4 more sacks

Another silly, manufactured stat
Bill in UT : 11/19/2023 11:43 pm : link
Are half his sacks against Washington? He's gotten better, but he hasn't gotten consistently better. He's had some great games, but he's also had games where he's invisible. He is not yet the whole package. Hopefully, he will be
The guys blocking him get paid too
JonC : 11/19/2023 11:51 pm : link
He's not going to shine every game, but he's growing each week.

There it is, right on cue 🤣🤣🤣
Bill in UT must be Sal Licata or Brandon Tierney.

Funny thing
Daniel in MI : 11/20/2023 12:39 am : link
Before they drafted him, they asked him, how are you going to deal with the pressure and criticism if you’re x games in, and sacks aren’t coming yet? Seems like he’s faced that exact thing. He handled it well, imo. Keep your head down, keep working, trust they’ll come.

Can't wait to see this kid next year with a bit more help on the DL
They sure have Washington's number via a pass rush
ThomasG : 11/20/2023 7:53 am : link
Glad they are on the schedule twice a year.

How many games over the past 2 years have we seen him
TheMick7 : 11/20/2023 8:05 am : link
being double teamed because he was the lone pressure coming from the outside. Get him a partner on the other side(Ojulari can't stay healthy & yesterday he was a ghost.49 plays/60% & not one play made!) & he becomes an even more formidable presence on defense!
I thought he was a bust

Adding an ER threat on other side (bye Ojulari) is quite critical.

Heck just having somebody reliable, doesn't have to be another 1st rounder or a high priced FA, just somebody with some ability and dependability and not being hurt every other play.
Thibodeaux
Archer : 11/20/2023 9:13 am : link
Thibodaux was used differently yesterday.
Tibs was allowed to stunt and to rush from the interior.
He was playing off Dex's shoulder.
They are quite the combo.

He is playing stronger establishing an interior bull rush.

His strength also opened the outside speed rush as the tackle had to honor his power and could not over set.
The biggest improvement is Tibs use of his hands. He is able to create space by getting inside the ol arms.

This portends great things in the future.
If he can continue to get stronger and refine his technique he will be a force.

I don’t think he has the “stinger”
RetroJint : 11/20/2023 9:45 am : link
that is possessed by the truly great defenders in league history . He is using his hands better to break the holds that are inevitable. I argue this point continually with a good friend . Great players do not allow themselves to be held . He’s somewhat inept when Wink drops him into quarters coverage . He has to get to the sideline in that defense . But it’s silly to have him do that anyway.

They ran a loop for him when he came in over the center . That was good to see. Right now his game is reminiscent of Mark Gastineau . Until I see it against the Eagles , Cowboys and the Niners and Lions, when they play those teams , I’m skeptical . But he has a place in the league , certainly . He could turn out to be very good , maybe great . But no way he is there now.

The Giants fattened up on 2 games with the Commanders and another with the Jetsons, whose offensive line might be worse than the Giants .
It does amaze me at times of the negative comments about KT
Rjanyg : 11/20/2023 9:47 am : link
It is very obvious that he is trying very hard to execute his assignment and stay in his gap. This is more important than the stats.

The big plays will come with time.

Also, he hasn't always had the luxury of playing defense with a big lead. Those scenarios seem to be a nice way of splash plays and padding the sacks.

He’s quickly becoming my favorite player.
Yea well, he didn't get any sacks while being kicked in the balls
widmerseyebrow : 11/20/2023 11:45 am : link
Some of these comments are strange straw men. No one is arguing that he is the perfect defender right now. Most of us are pleased that:

1) We are witnessing the rare Giants draft pick that improves from year 1 to year 2
2) He's averaging almost a sack a game in year 2 thus far

Even if this is his ceiling (which given point #1 is unlikely) he's still a useful starter in this league and may have already hit the floor of his draft position.

There are plenty of one dimensional edge players that were mediocre or worse against the run but were good starters in this league for years. Simeon Rice was completely disinterested in the run and made the Hall of Fame.

Just enjoy the growth and hope it continues.

Thibs
stretch234 : 11/20/2023 12:05 pm : link
Today was a day where got a lot of pressure and got the sacks, which usually come in bunches. Just keep putting pressure on. He is a building block player

The issue is the guys on the other side of the DL
