I was able to watch a lot of games the last few weeks and its becoming pretty alarming that there are quite a few teams that might be looking to upgrade their QB situation sooner rather than later. So this idea we will get our QB might not actually happen. Here is a quick breakdown.
Miami - set with Tua.
Buffalo - Set with Allen
Patriots - desperately need a QB
Jets - Rodgers will be back next year, but for how many more years?
Baltimore - set with Lamar
Bengals - Set with Burrow
Browns - Have Watson, stuck with him, but will need a QB soon. Wasnt playing that well to begin with. ANd that contract. Woof.
Steelers - This may be controversial, but the Pickett Era may be ending soon. He is not good at all. He will get one more year most likely, but man has he been really disappointing.
Texans - set with Stroud
Jags - set with Lawrence
Colts - Set with Richardson, but injuries will be concerning
Titans - too early to tell, but Levis probably has next year to prove he can be a full time starter. Malik Willis? hahaha
Chiefs - might need a QB - but they may stick with Mahomes haha
Chargers - set with Herbert
Broncos - need a QB. But that Wilson contract. Woof.
Raiders - desperately need a QB.
Giants - need a QB desperately
Eagles - set with Hurts
Cowboys - set with Dak (unless a playoff choke is coming)
Commanders - Howell will get 1 more year to prove he isnt the answer.
Bears - huge question mark. I dont think Fields is the answer, but they may give him one more year.
Packes - See Bears, but I dont think Love is the answer either.
Vikings - Should move on from Cousins.
Lions - set with Goff
Bucs - desperately need a QB
Saints - desperately need a QB
Falcons - deperately need a QB
Panthers - set with Young
Cardinals - Might roll with Murray, but they need to improve.
49ers - set with Purdy
Seahawks - will stick with Smith but will need a new QB soon
Rams - Stafford can still play. Can see them trading him and starting over soon.
So by my account that is
8 teams that need a new QB immediately
10 teams that will look for one this year or soon after.
14 teams that are good with what they have.
I was so surprised to see the quality of play is really down this year.
- I think the Saints probably go with Carr for another year for better or worse given his contract
That is a lot of capital in rehab or sitting at home!
Jones is one.....Rodgers, Burrow, Richardson, Cousins, Watson, etc.
The NFL Teams are starting most of their OL right out of the rookie gate and QB's are getting killed back there!
Back in the day, Parcells said OL wouldn't see the field until year 3 or 4. Most OL start right away. No seasoning, No experience, No cohesion, nothing....
And QB's are paying the price. The NFL is not for long for QB's at this rate!
Basically the draft will not be "the answer" for all of these teams.

This is true. I just wanted to show who may be looking for a QB and possibly jump us if we are in position to take 1.
If he recovers, they're fine.
But I could see them add a late round guy to be a backup or starter if Watson fails to heal.
No. No. No. And Hell no.
This is borderline delusional. Of course the Giants need a starting caliber QB.
Quote:The Giants have an opportunity to draft outstanding olinemen, if they can get a RT and a G with their first 2 picks that would improve the oline and protect Jones and open holes for the RB's.
No. No. No. And Hell no.
Yeah...Giants need to "plan" to find a QB solution in the draft imo. If the chips fall against them and they HAVE to run it back that's one thing but it can't be their strategy. And if it is their strategy, then JS is not the GM we need him to be.
There’s a shortage, no doubt.
Basically the draft will not be "the answer" for all of these teams.
Agree on Murray and Fields. But even pretending he was healthy and not signed to a huge deal, what team in the league would have Jones as their starting quarterback?

DJ will get another shot somewhere else to start. He was well thought of in many circles after last year (not every QB can be a top-10 QB....math) and so he will have suitors much as guys like Carr, Mayfield, Garrapolo, etc have had multiple chances. His next chance just shouldn't be with the Giants as its best for all parties imo to move on at this point.

But Jones isn't really comparable to Carr, Mayfield or Garroplo in terms of performance.
I'm not saying he'll be out of the league but I am highly doubtful any team is signing Jones to be their starter. That's not happening.
It's like a case study in only paying a QB if they are a solidified franchise QB capable of winning a superbowl.
Otherwise - start the Mayfields of the world until you find him

I'm not a Jones guy but if we're basing it on level of play at this point in time, he's on the same tier as those guys. Mayfield has been better than years past but nothing to write home about especially with that WR corp. The other two have been mostly terrible all season. Sure, the overall body of work is better but Jimmy G looks cooked and Carr has really struggled for the second straight year.

This is [strike]borderline[/strike] delusional.
I fixed it for you.
Cant wait to scroll down and see how THIS is gonna go over! I think I know already, but it should be entertaining:)
That said, Dobbs is a UFA following this year, and he's going to get a healthy raise. Probably will need to draft a guy as well.
Kirk Cousins should be looking for a new home next season. Tampa Bay makes a lot of sense but it's likely to be a soft market for him in terms of numbers of teams vying for his services. Atlanta could be another landing spot.
NYG would not make sense, I would believe with the money owed to DJ, they will need to just go with a draft pick to compete with him.
Derek Carr is going nowhere WRT to New Orleans. He has a dead cap number of nearly $53M next year. I don't think they can cut him until after 2025.
I agree. Now here comes the BBI mob to cancel anyone who disagrees with them.

You guys act like drafting another lineman or two will be the answer. The guy struggled even when he had a pocket and the throws were there. Plus, you look at Evan Neal, he was as blue chip a OL prospect as they come. I don't care what lineman you draft, if you expect you just plug him in and all of a sudden the OL is fantastic in their rookie years, it usually doesn't work that way.
Evan Neal has a better chance of being a pro bowl RT next year than any draft pick coming in and being better than he is right now right away. Don't you understand that?
Also, you're always one injury away with 5 guys from having an unsettled OL. You always want good depth, but it's a lot harder in to achieve practically speaking.
You look around the league, there are QBs that are scoring points, making plays, while their OL is allowing a lot of pressure. Russell Wilson won that game last night getting immense pressure. Joe Burrow, yeah he's injured now, but for the last several seasons has played with a terrible OL and has been incredible.
The position they need to solve is QB. Not to say don't also try to improve at OL, that should be the goal every year. I advocate for drafting OL in every draft by the end of round 5. But in the modern NFL, the defensive line talent is tremendous. You aren't going to stop Micah Parsons, Jalen Carter, the Bosa brothers, or Myles Garrett with anyone you bring in. Pressure is going to happen, your stud guy is going to get beat, and it's the hardest thing in the world to get 5 stud guys on a line and then keep all of them healthy. This is not a model that is sustainable.
