same turf as 5 or 6 other teams. Probably reliving previous turf.
Fans suck? Where does that put Philly unless they are saying suck as in lame.
To be honest they probably did mean quiet/lame, but since I'll take any semblance of a silver lining this season, I'm gonna be charitable and hope it's that it's because the Metlife fans make it tougher to play there.
Fewer than half the teams in the league have played on the new Metlife turf so this feels like a potential source of "unfairness" here. I want to know how the new turf plays, not how the old turf played.
Example: I suspect 49ers who were surveyed hated MetLife Stadium based on previous years here, but they haven't played on the new turf.

Exactly. And it's a lot less than fewer than half. It's 11 as of today, counting the Jets and Giants. Not to mention it would take some time to do the survey, so it's less than 11. I don't subscribe, does the article say when they did the "survey".
Football Giants and Jets fans - “The fans are horrible"
If both these franchises actually tried to build a worse stadium, I don’t think they could have. Metlife is absolutely awful on every imaginable level.
would be curious to know what players were polled but I would think it has to be energy/engagement in the game.
I know Football Giants and Jets games aren't as rowdy and boisterous as Seahawks and Cheifs games, but I can't imagine they rank below the Chargers and Cardinals. Those two teams' fanbases have the energy level as a sloth being shot with a tranquilizer.
The turf at MetLife might be the only reason it "beat" FedEx. That place is a dump, falling apart. Last year there were sewage issues. This past weekend there was no hot water, forcing players to shower with cold water. I'm not sure if that was only in the visiting locker room.
Arrowhead was built first. It opened in 1972. Giants Stadium opened in 1976.
It was the perfect (except the turf) place for Giants fans to see a football game. Arrowhead has been refurbished a few times but it's basically the same stadium as 1972 with great sight lines and a great tailgating experience. Sound familiar if you were born before 1980?

In 2013, Arrowhead Stadium started using a new playing surface known as NorthBridge Bermuda grass. The reason the team made the switch was due to the cold weather tolerance, rapid recovery and aggressive rooting.
I could be wrong but I think the comment about the fans sucking at Met Life is not in anyway a compliment. At least when it comes to the Giants. I think it's about the atmosphere being low energy and boring.

“That place is electric,” one player said about Arrowhead. “That’s one of the coolest places to play. In my opinion, the loudest in the NFL.”
If you were lucky enough to get a ticket to get to a game at Giants Stadium in the glory days of 1985, 1986 and 1988-1990 you could substitute the Meadowlands for Arrowhead in that quote. It was loud and it was electric and combined with the team on field it was an intimidating place for opposing teams to play. I think a minimum of 95% of the people in the building were hard core Giant fans.
The worst thing that ever happened to Giants fans as far the game day experience was the day they let the Jets sub lease the stadium. It didn't change the Giants game day experience too much but it lead to Met Life which is a disaster and a horrible compromise in every way.
Two greedy, big ego owners, Mara and Johnson, who were both born rounding 3rd base unwilling to do anything the other wanted because no one has ever told them no about anything. So we wound up with a dull, drab grey stadium with in life in it. And then the Mara/Tisch sold PSLs and killed the golden home field goose.
They uprooted and urinated on generational fans and turned Giants season tickets into a business proposition for the ticket holders that needs to be financed and managed.
In order to make it somewhat affordable to go to more than a few games a year a lot of season ticket holders try to sell of the out of market in demand games. It's a smart decision. Who wants to fight that traffic, parking etc. to go see the Cowboys and the Eagles demolish the Giants year after year.
8 home games this year Cowboys, Eagles, Commanders, Seahawks, Jets, Patriots, Packers, Rams. Which two games are going to have the biggest demand from out of market fans?
If you could sell your tickets to those games and the expense of going the Maybe before the year started and Rodgers got hurt some Jet fans might have wanted to pay to see them. But NY Football Giants tickets are not exactly a tough or expensive get. If you just want to be in the building you can get in to most games for less than $50. Of course in those seats you're flying at about 15,000 feet and can't see the players jersey's numbers.
Here's the rankings:

That's an advantage for us, that other players feel lousy when they play in our house. I'd rather that than them feel comfortable and good.
Sample size is an issue but the Turf Concern was over 80% with a similar number of responses so it may be representative

When I attended a game there years ago it was very similar to the Meadowlands.
Insofar as fans, fuck it we don't need to be nice

In what sense? Is that a compliment or a knock?

I hope Mara, Tisch, and Woody are embarrassed enough by MetLife that we get a new stadium sooner rather than later.
