MetLife Stadium worst in poll by NFL players

Shocker!
What a dump we paid for.
I linked the DailyVoice article since the Athletic is behind a pay wall

No shocker
Simms : 11/22/2023 7:46 pm : link
They screwed the fan base, eradicated the list of season ticket holders, and tried to make good for a terrible team by handing out a medium Pepsi.

We allowed the Jets to alter our plans during its build where they should have kicked them to the curb.

I watched KC play in Arrowhead and pain for the original Stadium.

We are terrible in the front office, on the field and the stadium housing the field itself.
Maybe my expectations are unrealistic.

For a team that represents the greatest city in the world, playing the greatest sport on the planet, i would expect at least one of the most magnificent venues at least in the NFL
I also had a better time

at the old place . But the worst? Even with the incremental improvements , Buffalo’s stadium remains the worst . But they are getting a new place . Taxpayers heavily participating , of course .

The Snoop is like a circular strip mall . Void of any character . Biggest stadium blunder since the Chisox put up the new Comiskey .

As far as the turf , WTF? Copy somebody already

They won the Super Bowl two years after the place opened. It’s a boring stadium but that’s kind of revisionist.
next year is year 14 of Met Life Stadium
Giantsfan79 : 11/22/2023 8:31 pm : link
seems like yesterday that sterile building opened. But that means in another decade or so MetLife should be up for a remodeling and maybe they can make some changes then.
yawn

Every year, same story. Whatever.

Germans like it though.

Ach tung!
I don’t really care…
Chris in Philly : 11/22/2023 8:51 pm : link
about the stadium. When I go to games I am there to tailgate before and then go in and watch the game. I don’t need fancy restaurants and stupid shit in a football stadium.
My least favorite thing about the new stadium
fanoftheteam : 11/22/2023 8:52 pm : link
Is that college football esque sounding clown who has to remind us when its 3rd down while were trailing by 35 points then continues to blast some deafining foghorn.

Also the part when you walk to the stadium and as you pass through the premium parking section its just empty spot after empty spot even during the biggest games.

What I don't like is the seats are much further away, so the views suck and the tickets started at about double the previous seats.
Once again

They made the concourses far too narrow. At Halftime you cannot move. They should triple the size and run the concessions perpendicular to thr concourses like in safeco in Seattle way better. Jerry world blows metlife away
If you are going to invite people to eat in your parking lot, there
Marty in Albany : 11/22/2023 11:11 pm : link
should be toilets where you can wash your hands.

I’d like the building to be asthetically pleasing, that’s not too much to ask for a mecca. And the place is unbelievably boring, especially considering the product on the field.

"greatest city in the world"

Trust me, as a former NYer (University & 10th), very few people hold his opinion.
It is a pig sty, a dump, dilapidation, for many decades now.
Bocagene sounds like a real fun person

That said - my opinion of the stadium has altered when I moved from 300s to 100s. It’s absurd how bad the game experience is in upper bowl verse it being very palatable in lower.
This is another reason Mara gets the criticism he does
Mike from Ohio : 11/23/2023 10:01 am : link
He was handed a blank slate to build a new home for the Giants and that opportunity was completely blown when we got a stadium that was one of the worst in the league on the day it opened.

The we got a decade of terrible management, revolving coaches and losing football.

There is a reason a lot of fans see only the worst in John Mara. His stewardship of this franchise has been very disappointing for most fans.

The Giants sent me a survey after one of the games this season. I stated the appropriate answer to two of the questions, "kill the thiiiiiirrrrd down guy".

No, he's right. As a former resident of the northeast corridor, the area is a dumpy, dirty, congested, and disgusting. You don't realize it until you see other places. Come out west - things are cleaner, bigger, cheaper (CA being the exception), safer, and newer.

Reading this comment really makes me question why I continue to remain a fan of this team. I’ve been a fan since I was 5 years old, I became a fan watching the Giants beat Denver in the Super Bowl (first football game in my memory bank). I’ve been a season ticket holder (as soon as I purchased nose bleeds, they began the descent into darkness). I’m past midlife, I have two young children who have become fans because of me and have to deal with vitriol for being one since they started pre-school…(we live in Eagles territory). It has gotten to the point where I literally do not care at all to watch the game this year (I’ve been a die-hard my whole life, which is really pathetic for any fan when you think about it). I care more about my fantasy team ($7,000 pot!). I care more about my kids flag football team that I coach by infinite miles, and don’t even blink about missing football sundays anymore (I would still coach, but in the past I would have recorded games and turned my phone off until I could watch, even if it were the next day).

All of the things you mention. The stadium, the ownership (both incompetence and disregard for fan experience and the nepotism). The traffic getting in… the traffic getting out. The long ride there and back. The embarrassment it was hosting the game. The obvious lack of a stalwart home-field experience. The poor handling of the greatest Giant of all time (Manning). All of it…. Tell me why we should and continue to remain fans of the team, and why it seems impossible to pick a new team?
While I agree the stadium sucks
RodneyHamp : 11/23/2023 5:27 pm : link
This is hardly a statistically relevant study with 79 players polled. 15 players think it's the worst.
Not surprised

At least Dallas has the best so our conference is not all bad.
Any player that thinks

MetLife is worse than Fedex is a moron.

And they players are not rating the fan amenities. So those hoting on MetLife from the fan POV are likely more correct then the players.
