NFT: YouTube TV ....

short lease : 11/26/2023 3:21 am
Anybody have any experience with this? I thought I saw a thread about it recently. Is it worth the $75.00/month?

I thought the thread I browsed briefly made it seem like it was a lot cheaper than that but, I was only skimming the content and it may have been an add-on package (NFL Package?) that he/she was talking about.

I have a Samsung TV with the Youtube app built into it but, I do not subscribe so there is ads. I am assuming if I subscribe that there will be no ads for the videos made by the content creators? A lot of good stuff on Youtube - if you want independent news sources and not corporate media. Plus interviews with interesting people etc .... Some of those amateurs know what they are doing when it comes to asking the right questions or telling a story with great editing.

Worth it? Would you do it again?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
YouTube TV is NOT YouTube

Separate products. If you want ad free YouTube, you need to get YouTube premium.

YouTube TV is $73/mo for the base package and is essentially a cord cutting alternative to cable. It has your local channels, ESPN, FS1, TNT, TBS, etc. Of course it has add ons like HBO, Sunday Ticket, etc that are extra fee.

There are some drawbacks, YTTV does not have channels like YES, MSG, NHL channel etc so if you are in the local NY market you won't get Yankees or hockey.

I'm outside the NY market so that doesn't matter to me and I find YTTV to be cheaper and much more convenient than cable.

It has been super for me. After about 29 years with

Direct, it is about a third of what I was paying. Also getting Sunday Ticket.
The most important item, my wife is very happy with it!!
It’s amazing.

I got it just because of the ticket but I’ve come to learn it’s the best TV provider around.

Unlimited DVR storage and you can watch from anywheee as long as you have internet (ie watch from your phone or computer when you’re out of the house)
I finally cut the cord

And got it about 6 months ago. I wish I did it sooner
Another thumbs up for YTTV

I cut the cord when Spectrum cut ESPN (it has it back now).

It's great watching things from anywhere...we were driving back home yesterday from Thanksgiving, my wife went into a couple of stores, I pulled out my phone and watched college football.

A bit of a learning curve, but so much better than cable.

Plus, I got 2 free weeks, and my cost has been $68 a month with some promotion they have. Saving about $40 a month.

Also, I'm traveling out of the country for 5 weeks, and I can pause my account while I'm away, which was impossible to pull off with traditional cable, their box, etc...
I got it to get the Sunday Ticket

And am trying to like it but we have Hulu live and I think the interface is better plus Hulu has lots of great original programming.

I really want to like YouTube TV but so far I can't work it out.

Would love to be able to dump Hulu live to save the money but I think when the season is over I'm dumping YouTube
I cut the cord

March and like others, after a bit of a learning curve, I’m very happy.

The downfall is no hockey, Yankees or Mets but I am able to watch through other ways.
I like it a lot

Yesterday I watched college football with four games on the screen at once so I could see the scores and plays while I followed with my favorite team for audio.

I record everything I might watch because it is unlimited recording. I ended up watching some shows I never thought I would like. It is a nice feature to have.
another thumbs up here for YouTube TV…

Got rid of charter/spectrum after many many years… Should’ve done it a lot sooner… I’m not in the New York market, so I am not missing channels that those in the New York area would be…
It’s great

and if you don’t like it, cancel. Done and done.
I had YTTV until they dropped

the RSN’s. Hulu Live is $10 less per month and includes MSG, SNY and YES. A much better value IMO.
Sounds like the OP is asking about YouTube Premiun
elpeces : 11/26/2023 11:14 am : link
As stated earlier in the thread, YouTube TV and YouTube are separate. YTTV is a cable/satellite alternative and YouTube is YouTube. YT Premium is worth it for me. They offered a 4-month free trial and then it's around $13.00/month for a single account.
Thanks everyone -

and thanks for the clarification between Youtube TV and Youtube Premium because I definitely was under the impression that they were the same (not separate subs).

I am probably going to try it. Like someone said - you can always cancel.

I to was a long time subscriber to Direct TV (25 + years). But, I just got so tired of paying all that money for basically what has become an ad delivery system.

I watched an episode of original "Twilight Zone" with Rod Serling. The whole episode was 25 minutes. That means when it broadcast it was 25 minutes of content and 5 minutes of commercials. Then I watched an episode of "Breaking Bad". The runtime for that was like 41-42 minutes. That means almost 20 minutes of commercials!!!! That is double what it used to be when I was growing up. I had enough. For the last 5-6 years I use a digital antenna (which works great) for local channels and and then watch Youtube, Prime, and (up until recently) Netflix. Plenty of entertainment for me.

Thanks again everyone.
I like it and it is half the price of Directv
