which apparently was one of his issues coming out of college. That will lead to sacks. He also cannot read defenses that well yet. Good thing is he can scan the field and find the open receiver, but probably is a work in progress pre-snap still. He seems to be developing, but he’s got to play to gain that experience too. To me he looks like a solid back up QB. He’s like another Kent Graham with better wheels.
If Jones is healed in time for camp, he'll enter as the Game 1 starter. DeVito and whoever is drafted will compete for QB2, and if nothing unexpected happens Jones will start with all bets off if the offense isn't humming after a few games.
If Jones isn't healthy by camp he gets PUP'd. Then see above except substitute QB1 for QB2.
happens the rest of the way, he will be on the team next year and should be given every opportunity to compete for any spot on the depth chart, including QB1.
Nobody on this team should be given a starting job because of their name or where they were drafted.
We’re not going to be in a position to get a top prospect.
Will they still trade assets to move up to get one or shoot for a 2nd rounder?
At 7-10, they would be in ideal position to grab one of Daniels, Shadeur, or JJ and get decent value since the non-QB top prospects (MHJ, Nabors, Alt) are likely to be gone.
If he plays like he is a middle-range starting QB in the NFL
then he is clearly the best QB on the Giants. So you keep Devito and let him compete with a rookie you draft and Jones, if he is recovered.
Imv though, Jones will not be able to compete in camp and preseason as his rehab will not be done, so this is kind of TBD with him anyway.
Devito continuing to play at a relatively decent level (if it happens) would be great news for the Giants. Probably the best thing in an otherwise awful season. He could provide good competition for a rookie we draft, and be a reliable QB2 as needed.
If DeVito looks good we should be even more excited at whoever the Giants draft at QB, as Daboll will have shown excellent QB development skills with both Jones in 22’ and DeVito in 23’. And we chalk up Jones’ 23 performance to him being out to lunch (as some have speculated).
He should compete for the starting job with Daniel Jones and whomever is drafted.
Absolutely. Schoen needs to make sure he drafts his QB in 1st round. Then open completion in camp. Right now I'm thinking TD wins job easily and rookie shows promise leaving generationally wealthy DJ at #3 where he belongs.
Hopefully he plays all of the rest of the games and gets some experience. He throws with some touch and he seems to be pretty accurate. Right now the game is too fast for him to be an NFL starter. But that's nothing new for the Giants starting QB's since Eli retired.
Exactly.

He's looked better than Bryce Young.
The draft sure is funny.
If he plays like the #12 QB in the NFL, then he's an absolute starting QB, but...
He's not going to, because he's not that good, and best case for DeVito is, he's a backuo.
Which would help our salary cap as Taylor would no longer be needed.
How he changes in response will be key.
I guess he determines if he has that opportunity.

Wait till all the DC's have game film on him. I don't see him as a Tom Brady

Five years of No TD Jones is enough.
