So we get a top 6 pick this year in a year that has one of the better QB crops in years. Next year we get a softer schedule and thus a better record. Jones doesn't wow us or gets nicked somehow and now we get the #15 pick or worse in a year where talent at the qb is meh. Next step: QB hell. We will have a relatively high pick this year. Get a top 3 QB. Just because we get a qb in the 1st round does not mean we can't improve our OL in later rounds and free agency.
The 2025 draft for QB’s will be better than 2024. Sanders (Colorado), Beck (Georgia), Ewers (Texas), Leonard (Duke), Milroe (Alabama), and maybe Pratt (Tulane).

Who could also return to school for another year. McCarthy, Beck, Ewers, and Milroe will all be playing Saturday against good competition. Nix and Penix play against each other Friday night.

Cameron Ward supposedly has multiple 7 figure NIL deals so he may transfer somewhere with PAC-12 being decimated and be in 2025 Draft.
While it appears the 2024 draft has multiple qbs with high end talent, you never know who emerges in 2025. I think about 2017 and that was supposed to be weak. Yet it produced the best qb in the NFL. 2018 was supposed to produce multiple top NFL qbs, and really only Allen fits that bill.
It's rare to have a 1983, 2004, 2020 type qb draft where you get 3 pro bowlers in the top 10. 2021 was the same way, after Lawerence the other two are epic busts.
It doesn't mean you wait for a Manning or Luck to come along, just that you don't know who emerges (Burrow and Mahomes).
Drew Allar physically looks the part, but that Ohio State game was such a stinker.
Shedeur Sanders...eh.
If Milroe continues on his upward trajectory, he could very well be the best of the bunch. He’s come a long way this year from being benched to strapping it up get the job back. He’s got an arm and a half, is big, can run and is getting better and better at seeing the field. Has an occasional head scratching play but they’re getting less and less frequent and I think with more playing time he’ll improve greatly there.
From all accounts a very hard worker and student of the game. I’m really interested to see if he continues to raise his game. If he does, he could very well be the #1 QB coming out after next season. I like him a lot.m

But i think this years clas is at least as good as 2018 or better. You also forgot Rosen.
I didn't forget Rosen. The original poster said we had to get a top 3 QB.
I remember the hysteria when we didn't take Darnold. I remember the BBI people who said if we didn't get Mayfield it would be a disaster. Same goes for Rosen.
I wouldn't be surprised if they signed one. They need a hedge vs Jones' availability to start the season, and also the risk and cap implications for '24 and beyond if Jones gets injured in '24.
Still, many #1 QBs fail to deliver
Shedeur Sanders...eh.
I cannot disagree more. That’s a weak class.

Merely saying we need a QB and actually identifying a guy who may be able to succeed are more difficult than many think
If everyone comes out it will be deeper, I think. QB play in the NCAA feels like it is at an all-time high.

LOL. Right on cue:
Allar
