The top 3 will very likely be the Bears, Pats, and Cards. If the NYG lose out, the best we can get is 5.
Been doing mocks from the 5th spot (tried some odd ball stuff for edge cases)... we'll be poised to get a 1st dibs on multiple positions of need regardless of how the draft falls ... QB, WR, OT, Pass Rusher, OG (though that would be really high but our biggest needed)
Always thought our range 3 to 5 is the most realistic. Re-inserting TT makes 0 sense. DeVito is doing just a good of job and gaining valuable experience. Taylor is not going to have a Geno Smith like resurgence.
but if we end up at say 5, and Schoen has his eye on a particular QB, then he will find a way to trade up to #1.
If he gives up draft capital, he will want to be 100% assured of getting HIS guy. It will cost them, but its the one position you do whatever you have to, to find your guy.

They still have a shot at 4 if the Bears win another game and the Giants can edge the Jets in SOS. But if the Jets beat the Commanders then 5 is likely the best they can hope for.
for the Giants (if they lose out) is the Commanders beat the Jets (a Jets Commanders tie is actually the best outcome) and the Jets beat the Pats. That would likely land the Giants at 4. If the Giants and Jets tie, the Jets likely have the easier SOS. The Chargers have the Pats this week, so they will hopefully get to 5 wins. But either way they won't take a QB. The Titans likely don't win again, so SOS will be close. Would they go QB again after getting Levis?
and I get feeling that these wins are more or less meaningless, but with player development comes wins. Can't have one without the other. Can't have the team tank and fall apart, losing to teams like the Pats and Washington and NOT see younger players like Hyatt, Thibs, Robinson, Banks and JMS develop into core pieces at the same time. Also, if this team lost the last 2 weeks and lost every game or just about every game in expectedly ugly fashion, would we really feel ok about Schoen and Dabol? I know I would be nervous.
But with that said, maybe there is a magic happy middle ground where the team battles to close losses here on out, maybe only beating Philly once in heroic fashion while securing a top 3 pick in the draft...I guess one can hope for that kind of finish.
I will say the last 2 wins really only "matter" in the standings if they go out and beat GB next Monday night. And then they would need to keep winning from there.
More than anything, we need to see player development. These lost seasons don't have to be worthless.
I am holding on to the scenario that sees this team get to 5-8 and then 6-8. I want that. Think we all want that. I don't think it's an insane ask either.
5-8 and then they would need to go 2-1 to have a shot at one hell of a week 18 finale where they could be playing for a WC entry.
we will still be in range of a trade up. Doesn't have to be #1. I would assume if you want a QB, you will need to be top 2 or 3. The Harrison Jr selection will be interesting - that's would be who I would target with a trade up from 5-10.
be in the market for a QB and get rid of Fields? I don't know. NE and Arizona are probably going QB unless the Cards still believe in Kyler. I think Washington, if they pick ahead of the Giants, believe in Howell so they might not go QB. The Jets? Yeah, they'll go QB - again!

Player development comes with experience and playing time. You can develop players without winning. In fact, you will develop more young players if you aren't desperately trying to make the playoffs because coaches are more willing to play them if they're not worried about wins.
Embrace losing, winners want to win at all costs. What type of pathetic failure wants to root for losses? So you can get the top pick and take Baker Mayfield or Kyler Murray or Bryce Young or fill in the top 5 failure here? I want to win games and build and grow, not grovel for a higher pick because my life is devoid of happiness so I prey on the failure of others. Pathetic losers root for failure. Congratulations to all the losers who root for losses. You are not an actual fan if you do, you are a miserable loser, with no joy in your life. Trust me, I used to be one and we can spot our own. Loss breeds loss and success breeds success.

Giants have the fourth worst winning percentage of all major sports since 2019. By sticking with Daniel Jones and not bottoming out for a potential elite QB, you’re essentially rooting for failure

I think MHJ is the surest can’t miss in this draft and I think the only way you definitely get him is to trade up to #1. If he’s there at 2 or 3 I don’t think anyone trades out and passes on him.
If the Giants don’t trade up for one of the top 3 QB’s and stay put, I wouldn’t mind in the least if Bowers is still on the board when they pick for him to be the pick.
The teams ahead of us don’t really have any winnable games left.

Bears play Arizona, Falcons, and the Watson less Browns. They could easily win 2 of 3
There is still bowl season and the entire pre-draft process each of these prospects has to get through before their expected draft slots take shape.
No matter where we land there are always trades up or back we may want to make to position ourselves for the right guy.

Agree. I was referring to their pick from Carolina. The bears natural pick will be after the NYG pick.

I am a hopeless romantic what can I say.
