Your Schoen. The Wink and Daboll relationship is irreparable and Wink says he’d love to stay in NY but he can’t work with Daboll. It’s HC or nothing. What do you do? The offense hasn’t really performed since Dabes and Kafka have been at the helm but the defense has been generally good to great (yes a few stinkers here and there). Do you stay with your friend Daboll or roll with the guy that is getting results? Wink would probably promote his defensive staff and I could see Roman coming in as OC. I think it also opens the possibility of Jayden Daniels as a QB option.
So, should Joe Schoen fire Daboll and promote Wink Martindale to a position he's never held because his unit has looked good against Zach Wilson, Mac Jones/Bailey Zappe, and Sam Howell twice?
I'm going with no.
If Wink evee did this (andI know he wouldn't because he is a rational human being), I would fire him on the spot.
The leash is incredibly short for daboll for some.
This year the O has been a disaster so no arguments from me there but the D has had a full deck, and I still don't LOVE the way its played. IF it plays like this here on out and maybe just maybe can show up in a divisional game not named Washington, that would be nice.
The O has been up against it all year long. The D hasn't.
Wink is easily replaced. And there will be a large number of defensive minded former head coaches added to the supply of defensive coordinators in January. So the market will be flush with possible candidates.
I really hope someone, maybe Dr Lani, can get them to fix it up by which I mean, get Daboll to lighten up, a lot.
Wink is under contract, he can't leave unless they fire him, and while it may not matter to the org, I assume he's got some guarantees. I never like when a team has to pay a coach to leave. I'd love for him to remain the DC.
I'd see Kafka go before I wish to see Wink go.
Fans were really happy to see the team have a different defensive mindset - an attacking, gambling defense, even if we lose the gamble here and there. Play moving forward and bring it, rather than play back and manage it. At least that's how fans perceive it.
I think if we move on from Wink, fans would be ok if the new guy brings a similar philosophy. I would accept that.
And not to be a jerk... but it's "you're Joe Schoen", not "your".

The 2022 season progressed all the way to the last game (38- 7) beat down. Neither side of the ball was better than the other.
No more of that.
