Cowboys/Seahawks

Who we rooting for, folks? Fuck the Cowboys, but Seahawks losing equals a higher second rounder...

If a meteor hits the stadium, does that mean it's considered a Seahawks loss?

If you're talking about the draft that is only true if you're just looking at the 2nd round pick from Seattle. A Cowboys win hurts us in strength of schedule against the Jets and Tennessee in the first round because it counts as 2 wins by an opponent. A Seattle win only counts as one win. And the same will be true when they play the Eagles.

Giants fans should want Seattle to win this game (and/or the Eagles game), but lose every other game possible. I'd rather pick two spots higher in round one and four spots lower in the second half of round 2.

That's a solid point. But a loss by Seattle against the 'Boys is guaranteed to impact their draft position in RD-2, whereas, there is no guarantee that the Giants will tie either the Jets or the Titans to impact the Giants' RD-1 draft position.

I'll keep saying this till I'm blue in the face. There is no way in hell that Sirianni and the Eagles don't try to crush the Giants in that game. First, they hate the Giants. Second, their fans hate the Giants and the game is in Philly. And third, if they sit their starters they will go three weeks between games. No coach is going to do that. Some of the starter might only play a half, but that will be plenty.

I can pretty much guarantee you the Giants will be tied with someone, so SOS will come into play. There are 6 other teams with four wins and five more with 5 wins. I can guarantee that as much as you can guarantee one loss will change the Seahawks spot.

The Seahawks aren't going to lose out, they still have Tennessee and Arizona. So you can expect 8 wins at a minimum. Do you really think the difference between picking 18th and 22nd in the second round is more important than the difference between picking 4th and 7th in the first? Just look at the trade charts and you'll see how much weight the teams value the difference in those picks.

Also, need comes into play more in the late second than in the early first. At that point the Giants might be focusing on DL while the teams in front of them are focusing on WR. In the first, the Giants, Jets, and Commanders are all going to be looking for a QB. Those are teams we might tie with. Imagine if, say, Daniels is the last of the three QBs on the board and the Jets or the Commanders pick right before us and get him because the edged us in SOS because Seattle lost to Dallas. And we have to watch Jets fans celebrate for years. Or struggle for years against Washington. How happy would you be that they picked four spots earlier in round two then?

I've lived thru a lot of Giants high draft picks where they ended up, say, fifth in a five player draft (Cedric Jones instead of Jonathan Ogden is the best, but not only example). I'd rather not have that happen again and miss out on a guy the Giants desperately need by one pick, all to pick four spots earlier in round 2.

The Week 18 game is at MetLife, not Philly. If the Eagles don't need the game, I don't see them risking injury to Hurts for even the first half. He didn't play a down in the preseason.

While I certainly agree that the likely won’t sit players, it isn’t guaranteed especially if someone like Hurts is banged up.

The Giants have their qb and it appears good back up qb, so move off the qb draft in the first round! Oline, dline, LB, pass rusher, wr re bigger needs!

Looking at Seattles schedule after tonight:
49ers
Eagles
Titans
Steelers
Cardinals
They SHOULD win the last 3, so losing tonight then the next 2 gets them to 9-8 and the playoffs but it should force them vs a better playoff team and keep them in the lower 20s. Hopefully Pitt ( another team I dislike) brings an upset, gets them to 8-9 and possibly oout of the playoffs but at 20.

Sure, but the first four in that draft were studs. All pros. All played positions the Giants needed, especially Ogden.
Anyone should want to pick 4th ahead of the Jets and Commanders rather than four spots earlier in round 2. There are lots of good players taken later than 18 in round 2 who become stars.

Sirianni and the Eagles will want to crush the Giants in front of the Philly fans even if they are 15-1 going into the game. Nor will he want the starters not playing for three weeks. I'd bet my house Sirianni and his team will do whatever they can to stomp the Giants into the turf. This isn't KC, it's the Eagles. They hate the Giants and vice versa. Losing to the Giants at home would be an embarrassment for them. They aren't going to role over.
