Hendon Hooker

CMicks3110 : 11/30/2023 7:09 pm
Saw he was recently activated. Have to think with the season Goff is having with Detroit they might re-up him since next year is last year on contract. Hooker was heavily scouted by Schoen last year, and he seems like the kind of player that if given an opportunity could develop into a good starter. If we didn't go QB in round 1 but wanted to fill the position, I think I'd be willing to give up a 3rd for him to be a backup for a year and see if he outperforms Jones behind the scenes.

Are not trading him a year after they drafted him. They a lot of potential in him and they are hoping worst case scenario is that he’s the back up.

and if Hooker is any good, they'd want to keep him as a cost-controlled backup QB.

Not sure why they would let him go for just a 3rd the following year.

I liked him in college. I'm curious to see him in the pros.

thread earlier. I thought he looked pretty good before he got hurt last year. He may have been a late 1st rounder without the surgery.
It might be good to pair Hooker and Hyatt again/

QBs with upside unless there’s something glaringly wrong like off field issues.

As an aside, that Vols Tide game last October was fucking awesome. I still remember watching that game live @ a bar. Both Hooker & Jalin balled out.

Nothing. Less than Taylor, as a backup. They would need to be stupid to trade him.
I wanted him in last year’s draft

He was absolutely perfect for us.

Remember when there were people who actually thought the Lions draft wasn’t awesome?

Or they get blown away with a deal. Everything has a price. But, bottom line, Hooker's staying put.
Well yeah

but I’m going off of the OPs scenario, a third is nothing.
Hooker had a bad injury a year ago.

I thought he looked very promising, a very good arm.

Exactly, why would they invest a 3rd into a player they know was going to basically have a redshirt rookie year to turn around a deal him for a 3rd? You invest the draft pick, a year of salary (i know not much as a 3rd) and then never give him a chance to contribute what you thought he could? I can't imagine any reason they'd feel the need to move on from him based on this year and to have invested a 3rd last year wouldn't they at least want a 2nd in return?
Haven't we learned to avoid Hokie trash by now?
