College Football Championship Weekend Thread

JT039 : 12/1/2023 5:57 am
Oregon vs Washington tonight. Oregon is the better team right now. Washington clipped them earlier. Should be a fun matchup with Penix and Nix slinging it. Lot of good WRs as well.

Here’s a hypothetical scenario. You’re winners this weekend:
Washington
Michigan
FSU
Bama
Texas

If this is this case - No SEC in the final 4? Hmmmm

I always thought that was Eli's best throw. Accuracy and power outside the numbers is a great thing to have.
Always enjoy...

Dane Brugler thinks Nix is a day 2 pick and earliest he would take Penix is the third rd. Told this in his mock draft discussion on BBV.
I have been talking about Fautanu the last month

Don't get me started on Fashanu. I'm a PSU fan and I think he's the most overrated projected lottery player in the draft...
U Dub game plan is so interesting
Dennis : 12/1/2023 8:46 pm : link
So much more running than what they generally do, and it really seems to be working.
10-0, U.W. up. This is the best they've looked in 2 months. I'm very surprised, I really though Oregon woulld score at will, and run up the score against an anemic U.W. defense.

I just can't get past his lack of mobility, especially considering how the Giants can't figure out the OL. I think he'd be too perfect for a team like Dallas.

Same. I think his footwork gets out of whack too many times, too.

Although I would feel great with Neal protecting his blind side... ;)

They have to because the system is so poorly designed. Men's basketball has 64 teams, so they eye test is only relevant to borderline teams. And even the last four there have to win a game to get in.

What some are backing here is just dismissing an entire year's worth of games and saying a team is one player, and if that player is out that team is out.

Yes, I am saying just that because FSU in particular are not going to be as competitive without Travis. He was the straw that stirred that drink.

IMV, his loss has made it virtually impossible for FSU to win the playoffs now.

There is no doubt Travis is an excellent QB for FSU. There is also no doubt Norvell sat on the offense last week with Rodemaker. Yet, despite what I would call a awful job calling the game in the 1st half by Norvell, FSU beat the spread in a very inspired Swamp at UF.
One of the two backup QBs is likely the starter next year. Who knows how well they do this week after getting starter snaps in practice the last two weeks.
I have no illusions that Louisville is a push over - they smacked the crap out of ND and I see the spread has come down from FSU by 3 to now FSU by 1.5.

I can see the committee bypassing FSU for another team if they struggle with Louisville but still win. It probably is not the correct decision to jump a 12-0 team with one that is 11-1. If Georgia gets beat by Alabama, do they take both Alabama and Georgia and dump FSU? Do they include Georgia, dump FSU and Alabama and bring in Oregon and Texas?

I doubt Alabama beats Georgia. We know Iowa isn't beating Michigan(99.9%).
If Washington beats Oregon and FSU beats Louisville, that should be the final four. It does not matter who plays Georgia, they'll get beat. Not even sure Michigan beats Georgia.

But I can see FSU getting bypassed and it likely does not sit well.

Of a game that can totally get away from Oregon unless someone steps up and makes a big play. They need a turnover in a bad way right now. The momentum is overwhelming right now

I don't think of Penix (or any potential QB they draft) in the context how the Giants look now. I would hope they'd build a new offense tailored to whatever the new guy does well.

Jones is mobile, and he's garbage. That 3rd and 16 throw before was against a blitz where the ball has to come out quickly.

I'm not worried about Penix's mobility. Build around his (or anyone else's) strengths.

This is a hard matchup for FSU without a QB. Louisville stats show they are the best run defense in the ACC, and by a decent margin. If FSU just run this will be an ugly game overall

Someone’s drinking early tonight. I advise you to stay away from this thread because your boy doesn’t look good and others are starting to see it.

And nix sucked in the first half against UW by missing easy throws and TDs. You want to start this shit now or you gonna watch your team hopefully win?

Your choice.
